Since BBC is taking over the broadcasting, it looks like Matchroom.live subscribers are out of luck today, BUT I read here that it will be on Discovery+: https://www.radiotimes.com/tv/sport/uk-snooker-championship-2021-schedule-order-of-play/

If I subscribe to Discovery+ in USA, can I get the snooker? There's a deal going for 99 cents a month: https://www.discoveryplus.com/dp/black-friday-2021?utm_campaign

starts in 2 hours on my discovery+.
ymmv, as i'm in europe

I guess I will subscribe for 99 cents a month for 3 months. I'll let you know if we Yanks can get it. I am so bummed out as I was really looking forward to this match.

I don't know. Now I am hesitant to subscribe. I may still not be able to watch the snooker.

I am bummed. Ronnie O'Sullivan plays Robbie Williams today at 8 a.m. Eastern, and according to the website, Matchroom.live will not go live again in the UK Championship until tomorrow. WTH!

Here's the upcoming matches for today which will show live scoring: http://www.snooker.org/res/index.asp?template=24&event=1130
I'm watching it on DAZN. I guess this tournament is split between DAZN and matchroom.live.

DAZN seems to keep the match available for replay for a while. I'm watching the Ronnie/Robbie match right now. Matchroom.live is not very good about time shifting/replay.

Spoiler alert. I know who won! I'll give you hint.

I notice Ronnie is using a new chalk. It has a yellow wrapper. I don't think it's the Master's chalk he had been using.

i think he's been alternating between triangle and masters chalk all his career. he is probably the last one that hasn't switched to taom. and in this match it showed, he had some nasty skids. table got quite messy too.

He did try the original Taom but, like a lot of people with the original, got some miscues and switched back to triangle. Problem with that is, whilst he's entitled to use whichever chalk he wants, it means his opponents are more likely to get bad contacts. I'm sure Shaun Murphy has an opinion on that too.

Backpedaling...

First of all his comparison with golf and tennis falls flat since there happens to be a variety of ways, other than Q-School that a so called "amateur" player can play in Tour events. They still have Monday qualifiers for many PGA tour events and separate qualifying prelims for ATP tennis tourneys. Even the Masters allows several amateur players to compete every year!

Me neither. Although he was on the tour, the guy still came from nowhere to win his World Championship, and now he doesn't want anyone else to do similar. He used to preach about his religion as well, until he cheated on his wife with an escort....

yea, he used to be way worse tbh. just ask stephen maguire..

I think this is just sour grapes from Shaun, said after being beaten by someone who he should not have lost to. I think he will regret it later, especially as he was being gently teased by John Parrot when he was doing some presenting on TV.

I think it’s one of those results any sport throws up from time to time, my guess is he took the match to lightly and got Fay out, it’s one of the reasons I love it.

He still meant every word, and said so. At least he has a spine. But it was all just an effort at damage control.
