snowed in and having a house tourney

We're supposed to get between 19 and 26 inches of snow in the next 24 hours. So I took the next three days off and decided to have a pool tourney at my house! ( I got a few friends that are within walking distance) I got a pork shoulder on the smoker and the beer fridge is stocked! Bring on the blizzard!

Whats your address and what am I bringing? :grin-square:

Sounds like great times coming your way. Oh and losers have to shovel....

Hmm... sounds like a "tournament for two" (or three, or four, depending on the number of occupants in Cdryden's house), since noone will be able to drive there / get to Cdryden's house to begin with. :p

"Hey, I'm a Nor'easter that's experiencing the snow; how can I get me some o' dat house tourney action at Cdryden's house?" :p

Seriously, I don't know where you are, but if it's anything like here in upstate NY, take it easy and stay safe. Stock up on firewood and have a nice cracklin' fire in the fireplace!

I used to have some house tournaments too. My woman at the time liked to throw little parties on the regular so I mixed that with inviting about 7 pool playing couples over and we would throw down. I think you are in for a good time. Make sure you have enough booze!

Sounds awesome.

Good eats, good drinks, good pool, nowhere to go... heaven. :thumbup2:

Me, I'll be firing up that snowblower more than a couple times, by the sound of it. We might get lucky and have the bulk of it blow out to sea, but even if that happens we'll get another foot of snow. Yay...

I'm in northeast Missouri and it sounds like we are gonna get hammered. You guys on the east coast might get it even worse.

this reminds me of a story...

I was working 2nd shift and would go to the bar after work. I was playing this guy for a couple bucks. The bar was closing and he said he had a pool table at his house. Not a smart idea usually, but I said WTF. I played him and took all of his cash, drank all of his beer and let him play an air barrel on the last one (never got paid). I knew it was over and I was ready to get out of there. So, I bolted.

This is where the snow comes in...

I was leaving in the early morning and it had been snowing. I was pumped up and slid my car right through the intersection hitting a curb. Blew both tires and had to spend a few hundred bucks to replace them. I was tired as hell and didn't get home until 10am. The way I look at it is...I still came out ahead and have a new set of tires!

Oh those were the days!!!

Was hoping you were gonna say Western NY, because we're supposed to get slammed and a house tourny sounds excellent.

I'm in COMO and I shoveled my driveway twice today and it's going to need it again in the morning. If I wouldn't have sold my dog sled team on ebay I'd be there.

Is there a way to play a match of real pool via the internet like how they play chess?

I'm thinking it would be a lot of safe play, as opposed to running out.

I'm offering to divide the pool table into a grid and determine a way to relay positions via the internet. Working out the positions and references is something I'd do for fun.

Good plans. Hope you have a backup plan if you run out of those necessities.

I am in the Det area. Many are planning for a snow day and they are already announcing school closings. Had about another inch of snow last night instead of the 4 that was predicted. The local radio station was having a over/under of 10. Most callers were taking the under so they figured the mark should be 8 inches. It is around 6:30 pm and the gloom and doom news readers are still hyping up the big one. As long as I have power I am good. Where is global warming?

I bet the Detroit casinos will be jammed the next few days.

Too bad the Superbowl is in Dallas. Green Bay or Pitt should be the host. They know how to handle the weather.

Will the ground hog see it's shadow? The question really is will anyone see the ground hog?

Well, 1 day and a half later into my snow day tournament I got second in the tourney and won 220 on the side. We went through about 65.00 in beer though. We ended up getting 24.9 inches of snow, our area hasn't seen that much since the 1950's. How you guys stay warm and stay in stroke.

it appears as if everything is either moving out of or staying away from Michigan including the snow. We only got about 6 inches of that stuff even though about 16 was predicted. Wasn't enough to start up the snow blower. Naturally the weather forecasters had plenty of excuses on why it didn't happen.
