Soft cue cases?

With all the talk about cases, I really hate most of the Justis type cases, they weigh a ton and look goofy to me with guys having their names on them in 2 inch letters. Is anyone making a high quality soft case? I think instroke offered a few some time back but was not able to find any on the net.

A soft case will neither support your cue nor protect it. It's too bad you don't like Justis cases, as he makes one of the world's best products; nobody says you have to have your case personalized, and it's really not all THAT heavy. If you don't want a Justis, get some other hard case. GF
 
Think about a George or Ron Thomas

Well I personally would not jump on a soft case because of the protection factor. If you like something with less flash, but still protection in a 1 x 2, or 2 x 4 I would look at George cases, and Ron Thomas cases.

Ron does not have a web-site, but many members of this forum have his cases, and have posted photos of said cases. George cases are no longer made but do come up for sale here and on ebay

I have an Its George soft case. It has come apart over the years, but I had it re-sewn. I also had an extra divider added to the inside sleeve so it would have 3 pockets for shafts. I don't think they are made anymore, but i have seen similar ones at the Expo.

I too don't like hard cases. Besides being heavy and bulky, you can only fit a certain number of cues in them. In a soft case, there is a surprising amount of room inside when you need an extra cue or two, or even 3.

To each his own, that is why they sell both hard and soft cases.
 
I have a Silver Fox from which I've removed the cue sleeves and have put hard case tubes in it. Since it unzips all the wall around 3 sides, I can go from 2 x 1 to 3x6, or anywhere in-between, whenever I want. It is lighter weight, has huge pockets, is adaptable to virtually any situation, and has the protection of a hard case.
 
Jim Murnak is making a soft case, I have a 3x6 and it's real nice.

i'll shimmy in with the case my mom some 20 yrs ago splintered for me out of a mix of orange colored wool and gray dog hair. it got lost 19 years ago but it sure was sweet and suffice to say, quite uncommon. they won't come any softer than that.

Is there a U.S. dealer or web site that sells the Mezz cases like yours?
 
I have had one of these for about 10 years now 3x6 hard case

Works very well. Its square so it sits on any side and you can put stuff on top of it. It holds a breaker, and a back up cue... you know, incase I get mad and break my first stringer :) Pockets are big enough to put keys and other annoying pant pocket items in...

I have damaged cues in soft cases as others have mentioned... I'd steer clear but I suspect you know that and want one for your own reasons...

I'm with you on the over stylish personalized junk... Kind of silly to me...

Maybe the IPT store has a nice soft case for you, Macguy :)

Wow! I have this same case except it is all brown leather.
I bought mine with a couple of cues from Jerry Olivier out in Vegas about six years ago. It's a great case and I have no issues with my cues being damaged. I can throw it up in the air (spinning) and bam! it lands on the ground and no damage, none.
I have looked for another one just like it because I like it so much.
However, I recently looked at the cases that John Hager senior makes and I think that they blow every other case out of the water. You have to see them to really appreciate them. He does great work and has a variety of options available when it come to material to make them with and to line them also. They are not cheap but if you have the four hundred dollars for one it looks like it would be money well spent especially if you are carrying around $1000.00 + cues.
Has anyone else seen these cue cases? I forgot the website that he has but you can Google it to find it. That's how I found it.

If you want

a cheap soft case, for 1 or 2 cues, just a load-n-go type case, that is convenient though, I have a soft case, dark blue patterned vinyl, and it has
pockets on it like a hard case (small pocket has 2 seperate areas, large pocket big enough for jump butt) by Crystal Leisure. I paid $30 for it at Shooters here (Crystal Leisure is strictly a wholesaler), and it has an embroidered 'Wizard' on the small pocket. It only has one separate sleeve on the inside for a shaft though. Shoulder strap. The pockets that come with this soft case separate it from other soft cases in its style.

Now, I have a case almost like this one, and they are half hard/half soft, but have tubes, and are one of the most convenient cases I have ever had. The soft side (shaft side) is what rests against your
back and shoulders, and therefore you don't feel it a 2 x 4 is on your back. They are not heavy, and the shoulder strap is wide and padded. I like the Industrial rubber handles better than any case I have ever seen, and they are affordable.
