Something very special for my Son!!

I don't know what's more amazing....

The cue/case combo...or the fact that you get to share in something like this with your son.

I'd say BOTH are about as good as it can get.

Congratulations to you and your boy for making something so fantastic happen for you both. It's rare for a father and son to share something so specific...much less to revel in THIS kind of experience.

My hat's off to you and your boy...and to Joel for putting together such a fantastic cue.

As a father myself, I must say that is truly endearing, and extremely thoughtful on your part. I really like that you did not just get him an outstanding cue and case, but that you put the time and money in to personalize and customize both, in a fashion that he likes.

This thread really made me feel good. I am sure you and your son share an incredible bond, and he will be so proud of that cue and case. Way to go!!

Great cue!! I am sure your son will love it. I think the ivory inlay made to look like the old brunswick sticker was a great idea. Top notch all the way!!

Thanks for all the kind words. Someone asked what my cue was, I play with a Hercek.

I am very fortunate, I have 2 great kids!! It is very cool to be able to share my passion for these games with my Son. He has all the pieces and plays well, but right now the game is not high on his priority list. That is ok with me, I don't force it, I just keep it close and want him to have fun with it. When the time comes that his other sports leave him, he will have this one to fall back on.

I was able to hit a few balls with this cue before I stashed it, and WOW what a sweet hit. I am not sure if it is the brass joint, but it has the coolest "ping" sound....... I have only heard that sound once before from a cue. I have not played with ALL kinds like some on here, but I had played with a Bushka once and it had that exact same sound.

That is a priceless treasure as Joel has pretty much shut the book on taking any new orders for now.
Your son will one day see and realize he has something special in those two items and even something exceptional in his father.
Way to go!

Mike,

That Hercek is AMAZING. That's the one I want to own if I would ever have the opportunity to own one. Why? Because it encompasses so much history, Rambow, Titleist, Burton Spain, and Joel - it's a true window to the past of what makes cues so great now.

Thank you so MUCH for the opportunity to make this case for it. Your patience and persistence was much appreciated. Your son will be floored when he gets this cue.

I am in your debt.

i was just wondering if that is a sticker or ivory inlays or what in the but

i have talked with john about making me some cases like that for some time/but no luck
i think he has to do something in order to make the case, but i really want several

The cue and case are both great, but the pair is even greater

Deanoc, the "label" area is an ivory inlay, bordered in ebony and brass. Then Joel engraved it to look like the Brunswick label on the Hoppe cue.

I couldn't be happier with how they both turned out. The case is outstanding, and brings the whole presentation together.

Mike,
What a great idea!
That cue is the double-nutz!
I think your son will be estatic.
Congrats.

That Hercek guy sure is putting out some beautiful cues!

Joel is killing it with this batch started in 2011. Not that we've seen them all, but every one posted has set a new bar in the style or type of design used.

Simply amazing to me. I envy you guys that are local and get to see these gems as Joel creates them.

The cue is great
but I am having a fit for the case
I ordered 4 from John at $500 pr but he needs to have orders or 15 in order to buy the frames of tube like things that give body and shape to the cases

Well in my opinion this is the perfect case and I want 4
John must sell 10 more at this cost so I am asking for 10 of you to get in and order 1 each

contact John directly order one and when he has enough to swing the deal ,we will have the best cases I have ever seen

I am not selling these,I am just wanting a few and I can not get one without you guys buying enough to allow me to get mine

He said he is able to put your name on your case at no additional cost,in the old Brunswick looking print

I am going to have Szamboti put on 1 of mine to carry the cue that Barry is making me.
I am not sure what I am going to do about putting my name on the others

What do you guys think, name or no name at no cost

I won't give it to JM until May when he graduates. But maybe I can get out with put him knowing one night. I am filling in on Mondays, but not playing on Thursdays this session.

Hey Mike, If you do just send me a pm beforehand and I'll meet you there. There's been all kinds of drama going on Thursday's, real dumb stuff!!
