Southwest airlines lost all of my cues....

You're missing $5,500 worth of cues and noone has given you the solution yet, so I'm stepping up to the plate. This one was a no brainer for me.

Simply offer a $2,000 Reward for the return of your cues...."No Questions Asked." Then, just sit back and wait for their return.

( and ask Eydie to help you )

So when is the chick gonna up the cash?

This does totally suck!
You guys have got to stop flying with your cues. I lost one years ago and I have been shipping them to the hotels ahead of time with a replacement value in insurance since then. The hotels will check them into the safe and hold them until you checkin.
Feeling horrible for your loss, hopefully something turns up bud.

Geez Ross this is awful!

Here's the thing with airlines, cause I know. Southwest or any airline for that matter has a limit to what "they" feel your luggage is worth. It comes in around $500 to $,1000 a bag depending on what airline you fly.

Back in the day, I purchased a set of Louie Vitton luggage. Each piece was worth more alone, without the contents than the airline would cover. BAD IDEA!

After my first experience loosing a piece of this baggage on a AA flight from Fla to Aspen, each time I fly with the luggage, I have to insure the luggage for the amount that I feel it is worth. Needless to say, now I either don't use that luggage or I keep my fingers crossed that it will make it.

When we fly with Bob's cues, we either insure them which I believe is at a cost of around $300 or more, can't remember or we just make sure that the check in person knows what is in the package and that it is marked fragile. One of the gate check in people once told me that marking the item fragile and checking it in personally with a attendent will make it as secure as paying to have it insured.

This is my thought.. You will get them back. With the weather mess this past year, there has been a huge amount of misplaced luggage. My feeling is that you will get them back. If you don't. call me. You know how to get in touch with me. I have a few tricks up my sleeve.

This Is NO Joke

This is my feeling also and I hope that this is exactly what happens..

I am not trying to be facetious, but how do you know the shipping company doesn't fly them to the destination? And if they do, is the danger of them being ripped off still there as much?

I have not flown since 9/11 (went to BCA Nationals in 2001, was last time).

So what if they do. That is why I will insure them for the price it costs me to replace them. They do fly them, USPS, FEDEX and USPS have their own planes. I dont worry about them getting stolen or broken this way. If they do and I paid 1200 for my SW and my replacement would be 2600 because I will not wait another 8 years, then I can just go buy another.
My first flight after 9/11 was days after the airports reopened. MAN was I ever searched. LOL I dont even look middle eastern.

Three things!

1. For anyone wanting to fly with your cues it is prudent and wise to purchase a large rolling duffel bag to pack your case and clothes in. The good duffels will cost you anywhere from $1-400. People in Vegas or places with large flea markets can get rolling duffels large enough for around $30-50, generally from Asian luggage stalls. The cheap ones aren't going to hold up to a lot of abuse but they will be fine for occassional travel. I used to stuff them full of cases, toolboxes, everything but the kitchen sink and they would be good for three to four international trips that way. Putting your case at the bottom of a large duffel is the best way to disguise it and make it difficult to remove. Some duffels have tie down straps to really secure it inside. I have transported literally a hundred thousand dollars' worth of cues this way over the last 15 years and never lost one.

2. Purchase insurance. It's worth it. Also, before you fly make sure that you have all of your documentation in order concerning your cues. My cues were always covered under my business insurance which was unreasonably expensive but they were covered. Simply either make sure your homeowner's or rental insurance covers you or buy the airline's supplemental.

3. Let's all get together and act as a community to help Roscoe get satsifaction if his cues don't turn up. TSA and the Airlines need to understand that cues are valuable items that don't belong in the baggage area of the plane. I see people boarding planes with guitars and canes among other things. A cue is a really bad weapon in the close quarters of an airplane not to mention that it is a bad weapon period due to it's inherent fragility. So let's petition the TSA and the airlines to allow cues.

Lets also write to Southwest and threaten them with boycott and mass dissemination of their business practices in this matter if they don't take care of Roscoe.

Come on AZ community. We are a strong voice if we choose to use it.

I've had problems twice flying SW. Both times my cues showed up late, once 6 hrs. after the flight and the other about 24 hrs. after. They brought them to me. No damage fortunately. I believe the cues were shipped on later flights, and I recall SW telling me it's because I had 'fragile' stickers on them.

I've never flown my primary cues and I certainly don't plan to now. Good luck Ross.

Maybe stolen

A few years ago Mr. Ronnie Powell of Cue Perfect Cues was returning from an expo in the states with quite a few cues he was showing when the airline "lost"them. As it turned out they were actually stolen [allegedly] by an employee of the airline and started turning up on Ebay. My hope is that's not what happened to your cues, but you might contact him and see if it was the same airline. Good luck and I'll keep my eyes open. Don:( :(

All - again, thanks for the notes. I will contact those that have PM'd me shortly and let you know....

As far as can you tell they were cues? Possibly.... I had two 2x4 cases in a black Porper travel bag. All you would've had to do was unzip it to see inside and you'd be staring a black 2x4 It's George case and my Murnak case....

Eydie - got your message, will let you know after this "5 day period" is over... :)

Mr Barton - Thanks so much for the support. If nothing is located in the next 48hrs, I'll need all the help I can get!!!!

Also, it wouldn't involve our government protectors from the TSA checking the baggage, right?

You've got to be f'ing kidding me.....

Can ANYONE locate any emails for Southwest Airlines? Is anyone here an employee?? I want to get the email address for the following people:

Gary Kelly
Colleen Barrett
Michelle Perrett
Mike Van de Ven
Donna Conover
James Ruppel

I'd like to see if anybody can get ahold of the email addresses for these individuals. I'd greatly appreciate any anonymous PM's.... :p

So sorry Ross! I can't believe how violated you must feel. Was that flight originating out of SeaTac?

I have carried my cues in a variety of things - a body bag (soft golf bag), a hard-sided suitcase and a rolling duffle and had no problems. The last couple times, I just use their clear plastic ski bags, have them tie a knot with a plastic zip tie and plaster it with Fragile stickers and then claim it in the odd-sized baggage carousel.

I think if you were to use a TSA lock, at least it would point the finger at a TSA employee if something was pilfered out of the bag. Unfortunately, that doesn't help with the whole bag. Since they lost your other clothing baggage too, I have faith that they both will show up. :)

Once, way back when we were allowed cues as carryons, they made me choose to leave one behind - either my $4000 computer and equipment, or my $4000 in cues. Talk about Sophie's choice! LOL.

The laws really do need to be changed. Heck, laptops could be used as a weapon as a timer for a bomb or even just good old-fashioned head bashing with one. Can you imagine the outcry if they were banned as carryons?

They let grandmas with knitting needles on, for heaven's sakes! And what about flutes and anything else that can be used to bash people? I know we could be a major force to at least bring attention to this matter. Where do we begin?

Lost Cues

First thing I would do is to contact any Az'ers that live in the Airport area you took off from. This is probably where they were stolen. These Az'ers can check with alot of pool players there and see what shows up. Although your cues maybe common cues the combination of them selling together is not.

I believe once a bag is on an airplane it isn't re-checked since its already been thru security once. If they are re-checked then let the Az'ers know where the plane landed each time.

I hope you get them back.

Ross.....I am sure probably have already been here, but here are some phone numbers:

http://www.southwest.com/about_swa/phone_numbers.html

Now, bear with me, as here is my thought....I am guessing you have already accessed the Customer Relations number. However, what about a call to their Public Relations/Media Relations 214-792-4847. This is where any and all cage rattling may have benefit....particularly, if we all begin to call this number and just flat out overwhelm them....then they are going to realize that this is already out there on the web, and some damage control needs to take place. Remember, the squeaky wheel gets the grease, and we can be pretty darn squeaky!!!

Also.....try emailing KING-5 Investigators....they may well just bite on this one as well...particularly given the recent issues with baggage handlers at SeaTac....albeit it was Alaska Airlines, but, the story may well peak their interest....it certainly cannot hurt! I would actually call or email all three of the Seattle news affiliates....even if they do not pick it up, sometimes it will hit a wire service, and another agency just might.

Here's another thought.....since their investors is a matter of public record, inform them of such, and that you will be contacting their investors as to their currently policies, and that is is going to go public in a big way. They are not going to much care for that one, I can tell you this right now....cuz now you're messing with their bottom line.

Here's a link to their Investor Relations page:

http://www.southwest.com/investor_relations/fs_corporate_governance.html

All kinds of info here.....great cage rattling info. I have always been a great cage rattler myself, taking on several WA State governmental agencies, all the way up to the Governor's Office....it can be done, but it takes phone time, and a very thorough list of names, phone numbers, and date and time of each and every individual you talk to. When they realize that you are in fact documenting EVERYTHING, they tend to want to just pony up, just to get rid of you. I also recently had to deal with Oregon State on some crap, and again, took the Oregon Governor's Office to task...it took a little while, but I got the desired result.

Lots of great ideas, peeps...

I am waiting the 5 days as requested, and if I don't resolution on the 6th day, it's on.... :)

I am pleased that within 24 hrs of posting, this thread has hit almost 3000 views, and I am very happy to see that there is some sort of comraderie (sp?) amongst us....

I'd be willing to bet I've already cost SWA double what I'm out.... at the very least.
