Spammed in my PM

bencho is a personal friend of mine. I left him a message telling him to check his sent PMs, and to change his password to see if that helps.

Sorry for anyone who got spammed by him, but it wasn't him personally.

mine came from roosterman

I got one also!
This morning I clicked on my local APA site and it took me to another advertising site!
I am sure the merchants do not know they are being sent bogus hits!

Hey... i just changed my password. Sorry DWBOD. It wasn't me, I've already PM'd you apologizing. if anything, it's being automatically forwarding itself.

Just received a PM from chas1022 asking me "Do you know this site?".

Don't know chas1022, will not open the PM. But, I certainly did not send anything to him.

He's been a member since 2006 and has 52 posts, doubt that it's him.

This seems to be a major hijacking attack. Damn.

Do not Do not Do not click on the ad or link. It's most likely a spyware trojan horse or even worse.

There are methods to stop actual spam bots. You would have to find the 'member' who registered. To prevent a bot from registering, some forums have you enter a randomly generated set of characters. This deters most bots from registering but AZ does not have it in it's registration. More alarmingly, at this point, the spam is forwarding itself automatically. I have no instance of sending out this 'Check this website' PM in my sent folder. Yet, two members already said I sent them something, including a PM, calling me a loser. That's fine since this is a misunderstanding. However, finding the original bot/PM will have to be done by the admins. So good luck to them. In the mean time, if you do receive SPAM, please don't go off assuming that the sender is a jackass.

*Posting a list of all names you received the spam from may help admins so making this a Sticky and have the OP's post updated with the names of all senders you receive the spam from*
