Streaming Viewership #'s Were HIGH Last Night!

I may be mistaken, but I believe the viewership was really high last night - well over a thousand before I buggered out at 2:45 am EST. I don't know that I've ever seen #'s this high! I was shocked because, let's be honest, it was not held at the most friendly of hours for mass viewership. :( Not sure why it wasn't started much earlier.

Did anyone keep a bead on viewership #'s throughout the night? What's the highest viewership anyone noticed? Did it wane as the morning hours ticked on?

Most importantly:

What do these #'s mean as far as marketability of streaming one pocket?

I'm sure povpool and it's sponsors/advertisers were pleased! Thanks POV and all involved to have brought it to the masses!

Close to 1100 at times b4 midnight pst. Dropped off to 900 ish after that. Pretty strong. Some interested 1P fans around the country.

Hope Daniel can mend some sponsor fences. Commentary got too real, I guess. This is 'cable' isn't it?

Fun to hear Tang. 1P Rich was a good resource commentating until he was timed out. 'Steve' was a pleasure to listen to: timely, knowledgeable, insightful and well spoken.

Thanks to POV -a real treat.

Yeah, POVPOOL did a great job and it's good to see many people tuned it. As for the language, which some have mentioned in other posts, you're in a pool room, if you haven't heard an F-Bomb in a pool room, I'd be surprised! It's not like streaming is bound by any FCC rules that i'm aware of. Were some sponsors complaining about some of the language??

Well I'm here on the east coast and even here at around 4am there were about 800 people watching. Weird too because I didn't think a one pocket match would pull so many viewers like that but I guess a 40k match makes it intriguing. Yeah and I don't know about all those supposed F-bombs that got dropped because I honestly didn't hear it, but I might have been a little too focused on the game. A shame too because it looked like the chat room got a little weird at times and one of the commentators got like reprimanded unfairly.

Anyways it was one hell of a good stream and POVPOOL is definitely the best out there.

I liked the commentary guy was raw and uncut. It was pool after dark baby!!!!

1pkt Rich (I think) was a lot of fun. It was a pool room / a real action match that was going to happen regardless if it was streamed or not / not a staged event for the stream / so if you are going to be a voyeur don't get shocked about what you see or hear... (sorry posted this pic before but I like it:rolleyes:)

The match was great but the commentators needed some work. Most of the time they didn't know the ball count and quite a few times they didn't even know which side belonged to which player.

I appreciated the knowledge they brought but their lack of attention to detail was very distracting.

Is there an archive of the match anywhere? not finding it on the povpool site or their ustream site. Would like take another look.

My thoughts too. How much did the $40k add to viewership #'s I wonder?

I'm just in awe of the #'s. Has anyone seen higher?

But again, in different words, is one pocket more marketable than previously believed? Did streamers, promoters and sponsors take note and are they saying "HMMMMM"?

FCC or not it wasn't Right

Tang said one of his sponsors texted him about Rich.

I also heard Daniel say that Pepsi was thinking about sponsoring POV.
Hope Pepsi wasn't there to hear it.
Hope it works out with Pepsi.

Hope all of Dan and Barbara's work doesn't take a hit.

The commentators have to show respect to POV.

I can't believe how many people said that there was no foul language, including Rich.
It was unfortunate because he was a great commentator.

Some said it was okay because it was a pool room?
Is that what your mama, told you !!!!!

These are the reason that Pool has such a bad name, we earned it.
"We have met the enemy and he is Us", Walt Kelly.

Daniel and Barbara thanks for a great Stream.
See you in Mountain View.
I will donate again.

Full disclosure.... I had the stream running from the start, and left it running all night, even though I went to bed very early on. I just felt it would be good for the numbers, and I did start to watch it......

I expect there were more like me, logged on but not actually watching, as the night wore on.

Thanks for the stream! I appreciate it.

This is just a guess on my part, but the reason it may not have started earlier is because the pool room may have wanted to collect table rents during their "rush hour." Sometimes challenge matches or things that take away from table rents have to adjust logistically to the pool room owner's schedule. :p

1300 is good, but it dropped about 100 per game, it's still pool. I see zero chance of one pocket doing any better. 1300 is what you get with two of the best on earth playing for the largest public 1p bet on recent memory, for free with basically zero commercials. I dunno what you can do to make it more attractive other than fix the terrible commentary (warriorpoet is spot on).

The swearing is so irrelevant in every possible way that I dunno why we're talking about it.

Im sure if it were on Friday or Saturday night, and started a little bit earlier, there would be quite a few more viewers.

My thoughts too. How much did the $40k add to viewership #'s I wonder?

For me personally, the bet amount was not a consideration. The 8-ahead match between two top one-holers who to my knowledge haven't matched up like this is what drew me in.

Sort of like Tito and Chuck I or even Royce/Shamrock Superfight.

Freddie <~~~ savvy?

Sadly, if the viewers had been asked to pay as little as $1.00, the number of viewers would not have been near as high...

Wish I had caught some of it myself though...didn't watch any of it!

Pretty sure there were 1500 when I logged in, right before they had to restart the broadcast.

I agree with this. I have probably purchased about 15 TAR matches. Its amazing that as soon as they ask for a small fee or donation, all these cheap asses wont spend a dime.
