Just watched Earl break his cue on the floor after missing an easy shot. He's still favourite to beat Engert at this stage though.

What cue is that which can be easily broken?:D

Yes he is and do you know how many golfers and tennis players have boken their equiptment or slung it in the lake?Frustration does that to you it does not make him any less of a man wanting his team to win.Johnny broke his shaft at the cup and Corey got his anger out.Its part of it.These people have bull horns and whislers and no body pulling for the Americans and part of the team is having to hold up the other part as they are scoring no points.
Go USA.

A small patch of migratory birds must've flown over the arena and committed an overhead sharking.

All the American players are being sharked and only part of this team is scoring points so the others are having to try to make up for their total losses. Davis and Schmidt have scored 0 points toward the team.Everyone else on US side and Euros have scored they are dead weight.

All the Americans are being treated like that. My God the audience has bull horns .

Elizabeth, you are joking (or at least a little hyperbole) that the audience has bull horns, right?

Earl was playing at the same time as her last post. Maybe he ran out into the lobby between shots, logged on, made the post, and then ran back.

Don't think so...

At least thay have spectators for events in Europe....

hi shir,
Thanks for your posts.
Earl has been the choice of Mr.Hearn to play in Mosconic cup inspite Earl has not been ranked high enough to represent USA.
There will absolutely not be any fun ,thrill, excitement and drama in mosconi cup with out Earl .That is why Mr.Hearn has been inviting Earl .Earl knows that and plays his part to meet the expectations.

I have a friend who I call the "Earl Strickland" of one-pocket....and I mean that as a compliment. He is an utter perfectionist on the pool table. When something goes wrong or if he gets a bad roll it just really gets to him. This guy could afford ANY cues he wanted, but he plays with inexpensive action butts with custom shafts...because he has a tendency to break one butt a month. He will just slam the butt of that cue into whatever is near by venting his frustration....or bounce a ball on the table really hard. He doesn't do it to shark, he just gets so frustrated with himself he has to vent it immediately. Off of the pool table he is the most laid back person you could know...but in competition he just expects perfection...and anything else gets to him.

I suspect Earl has that same mentality. He expects (and ideally this is how fans should behave) the fans to show a certain level of decorum and respect when a player is shooting. Now, I'm all for applauding a stupendous shot, or after a rack is run...but I believe some fans intentionally try to get Earl's goad. Everyone always jumps on Earl, but I've been to plenty of pro tournaments and seen MANY of the greats get on fans or their opponents for various things. Earl has just become notorious for this due to the various billiards media, etc.

Personally I know plenty of people who just love watching Earl play. Earl is a champion of champions in the game of 9 ball, and is NEVER dull. I personally could care less if he breaks all of his cues....if he can let out that frustration and then pull it out for the win.

I don't care what anyone says...I've been a fan of Earl's since I was 10 and watched Earl play in the Brunswick World 9 Ball Open! Earl the "Pearl" is the man!

How can I be Earl when Earl is in Europe on a 6 hour ahead time zone playing in the Mosconi cup?And do you really think Earl would not let you know who he is?I defend Earl and a great deal of the American players as I feel that do not get the respect or support from the American fans/spectators that they deserve.
