SVB in the Philippines?!?

Was at Platers' Den last night to meet up with Efren (cues) and Gandy for our early morning flight out of Manila. At PD, I was told that Warren just beat SVB for 130K with a score of 25-8. But what a fighter this SVB is! He was on the table again playing LV Corteza for 250K and was down 14-8 going to 25 when I left. Hopefully, I can get a copy of the matches for you guys to watch on the "you". Tremendous shotmaking and pattern plays!

I guess SVB is getting his baptism of fire there, he couldn't even refuse these match-ups,
being America's no. 1 makes him a huge target. Plus everybody's wants his a$$ and wants
to play him even. Any Taiwanese vs. American or Filipno vs. Taiwanese match-ups there Edwin?

Carlo Biado beat Ko Pin Yi at One Side 3 nights ago 21-16. No eyewitness report from One-Side from me though.

SVB is going to roll over a lot of players when he comes back stateside. When was the last time players were lining up to play him even!? He's good for the Filipino players too. Gives them a different challenge.

Edwin, thanks for the updates and pls keep them coming.

Archer left for the PI today, I wanted to go but have too much going on right now. :frown:

Its great that SVB is over there in action, if I was there I would be putting players in action. wow

Its ironic yet sad that the US gets ZERO coverage, one would think the mfg/BCA would want live coverage to the states to increase their own business.

that makes way to much sence, God forbid the industry does anything to promote their business, it just goes against the grain, they sit around and cry about how bad things are....awalys have awalys will. ESPN takes skateboards and turns it into million $$$ biz with the X-Games-Tony Hawk carries his board off the private jet everytime he goes somewhere. Anything can be promoted and success can happen pool is no exception.

Maybe next year :)

Wow, he just left? He'll arrive Monday morning if no delays and then it'll take him 2 days to recover from jetlag. Good luck to Johnny. He needs it badly.

Shane did lose to Warren, but it was 25-14. 100,000p. And then he played Lee Van for another 100K and booked another loser. He did beat Gomez and Blado to avenge earlier defeats. I'm not so sure third tier players can give Santos the 7. I will bet on Santos if that's the case. I have deep pockets for that game. :)

Meanwhile the really big game last night was Gabica against Chang from Taiwan. Chang has won three times this year on the Guinness Tour. They played a Race to Fifteen (very short for this big a bet) for 250,000p, about $5,000. Gaga got him 15-10!

DANG!
I would have thought Gaga would be the underdog on that one.

It's different when there is big $$$ at steak. :D

With Alex and Orcollo on the Guinness Tour permanently, the Taiwanese won't have a killing. ;)

Careful Jay. Last time Santos was here he had a long line of 3rd tiers waiting to releive him of his greens. Russian Petiza beat him consistently with Santos getting the wild 7.

That's what I admire about them, show them the money and they'll play you even, they don't care even if you're bigger than Godzilla somewhere...

Edwin, thanks for the updates and pls keep them coming.

The updates are great!

When I was in Jacksonville, FL recently,Shane mentioned that gambling was not necessary to stay in shape once you reach his level of play but like you, I think Shane will come back stronger than ever.

The Filipino players are like hornets. Their stingers work pretty good and they just keep coming and coming. :D

Russian Petiza (It's his name, he is not Russian :)) played even against multiple European Champion Alex Lely, and took lots of pesos from his pockets.

I have never seen Santos play, but wouldn't be surprised if lots of unknown players in Manila can give him more than he can handle

Santo is getting pretty long in the tooth. I don't believe he's the player he was anymore. Johnnyt

That's messed up.
Alex told me Lining giving Santos the wild 7 but that's freakin monster Nicoy Lining.
Not some barely over his teens 3rd-tier bitmappers.
What did Luna give Rodney Morris?
