SVB v Mike Decheine TAR31 on you tube

This is just wrong. TAR30 day 2 he also posted up. If he paid for the stream and "captured" it for his own use I would have less of a problem with. To just post up someone else's IP is just wrong.

We stop supporting TAR we are forced to go back to watch American Idol.

This would be justin's link to get it taken down:

http://www.youtube.com/yt/copyright/copyright-complaint.html

I don't support reposting TAR matches on youtube, but playing devil's advocate...
For several months now there's been no way to watch older tar matches. So basically if you missed it live, you're shit outta luck.
I'd like to think those that missed it had some option other than wait for the VOD site to happen.

I know JCIN's working on that, I'm hoping it will cut down on piracy once people can just rewatch any tar for cheap,
especially if it can be a higher quality recorded version rather than the lower bandwidth stream.

In the meantime, I'd like to see people respect what he's doing and not post these links.
It's one thing to share with a buddy, another to just spam it for thousands of AZB users.

not illegal per se

Is this not illegal?

It would be a civil matter, where the owner could sue for damages after proving them. Then you need to collect those damages which is even tougher. Not something you even want to embark on, unless you have free legal counsel.

can't any user flag it?

I am not a 'member', but there must be a way to alert youtube...if there isn't then it wiould certainly make them enablers if not accomplices, to copyright infringement, no?

Unless he has permission from JC, it should not be there.

Agree it should not be on the tube but does TAR still sell DVD"S?

I can understand posting a few minutes of it, maybe a month or 2 down the road, just to show a few shots. But if JC don't post it, he needs to ask.

Pat Fleming and Accu-Stats have been robbed a million times as well.

Even the match CJ Wiley linked (against Earl) to demonstrate TOI was an Accu-Stats match...and they sell his instructional videos.

Whoever posted that does not have permission and is stealing. I understand people want to see older matches and I have been working on a way to accomplish that goal without losing money.

I have had mixed results with YouTube honoring take down requests. Most recently they have done nothing.

Off to fill out another useless take down notice.

Edit: It seems the video has been made private. Which sucks less. I have no problem with people who pay for the stream capturing it for private use. Fair is fair. Putting it on YouTube is a dick move though. Evidently the dude who did has some class in that he made it unaccessable to the general public.

I agree with you. YouTube used to be 10 times better about those kinds of things until google bought them out. We used to go through the same thing with skateboarding videos...

I agree that it's wrong for them to post it on Youtube. However, until you get a VOD/DVD site up (which I'm anxious for), I don't think you're really losing anything here. It would be different if someone posted a URL of the match for free as it was streaming, then you have possible customer loss. In this situation though, there's no more money to be made at this point in time.

Speaking only for myself at this moment, a video on Youtube will not hinder me from purchasing anymore TAR matches in the future. It's not as though I'll think, "Well why would should I buy it when there's a chance it will be free in a week or so?" Surely not everyone will feel the same way, but I have a feeling that most of them share my point of view.

The one benefit (I use that term loosely) is that someone who has never purchased a TAR match might see the video and become interested in purchasing the next stream or previous matches once available.

I wish you the best and appreciate everything you do for pool.
