Yes its a $160 Cuetec.... but the shaft is not. The shaft he plays with is a FULL custom shaft.

He has said in multiple interviews that he only changed the ferrule, and the tip is a Kamui. So what do you mean by FULL custom?

IIRC, the Cuetec was a cue that his friend gave to him (Not Cuetec). Which is funny, because he is sponsored by Cuetec and you would expect him to have a case full of them. He said in a TAR interview, that the ferrule was changed and the tip is a Kamui brown medium/hard (I can't remember which). Even if it wasn't altered, or had special meaning to him, that cue has seen some use. The finish is worn off around the joint and is beat to hell. It may be a Cuetec, but it's Shane Van Boening's Cuetec.

Shouldn't be a problem, but I bet Shane has a special attachment with that cue. I'd hate to see it lost. That cue is almost as valuable as the $10 cue Efren used.
 
In one of the tar interviews, I thought Shane said he was offered ten thousand dollars for that cue. There's a lot of history in that cue case, and the airline better fully compensate or give that case it's own first class seat on the next flight to new jersey.

Ok we all know that you could play with any cue if you had to, but to pretend that you don't perform better with a certain cue is silly, especially on short notice.

In the video, aiming Shanes way, Shane shows his ferrule based aiming system. Towards the end Jennifer gives him a random cue and he tells of how he has to adjust for the different diameter shaft.

So it's possible that Shane can play with another cue, but I'm sure he will want it turned down to the diameter of ferrule he is used to, but still without any warm-up matches, to go in cold turkey will be a challenge.

If anyone can make the adjustment that quick, Shane would be one of them.

Im sure he can if he had too, but he would surly tell you why he has his own cues and has kept them for a long time, comfort.
 
Yeah I don't know what kind of cue that is, but it's definitely not Shane's cue. It'll be interesting to see if he gets it back before the end of the event.
