Switzerland

Pro Player
I had a wonderful time recently in Switzerland. I was hired to be the birthday present for 40 year old Sebastien Pauchon. Seb’s numerous friends and family contacted me and arranged everything.
Well, the red carpet was rolled out for me. I met most of the family and friends, who made me feel truly at home, despite the fact that I know about 10 words of French. Seb’s lovely wife Celine or “Cat” cooked every evening. The cuisine was magnificent, pasta, different cheese delights and to my surprise horse (very good).
Malcolm, a celebrated jazz musician and Alex Harbaugh, whose pictures you may see of here on the attached link, provided professionalism history and humor to dignify the proceedings.
The actual city was Vevay. The whole town reposes upon a down grade and the view from almost anywhere is magnificent ; Lake Geneva, the mountains, everything with a proud local flavor, with no crime.
What I didn’t know was that Sebastien is an A plus one pocket player, so good I couldn’t teach him much. So for 4 or 5 days, we played only One Pocket on Seb’s very good equipment. The sessions lasted 5 or 6 hours each.
I hated it when it came time to leave. I hope to return some day. Seb’s next dream is to play in the DCC. We’d love to have him and it would be our turn to roll out the red carpet.

Glad to hear of your positive experience, Grady. Thanks for sharing.

Sounds like Seb would be a nice addition to the DCC.

Wow, looks like you had a great time! Thanks for sharing the pictures.

How do you manage to stay in such great shape Grady? Do you have an exercise routine?

Darn Grady,
I thought you would've called me to make that trip with you, your treat of course. ;)

Switzerland sounds great. I know you thoroughly enjoyed it. It couldn't happen to a better guy.

What a great experience!

I envy you for getting to go to Switzerland and visit with such nice people and the best part is you got to play one of my favorite games "One Pocket" every day! I've always wanted to go to Switzerland and maybe one day I'll get to go. Thanks for the story.

Mighty fine

Grady-

Congratulations and it sounds like you made someone's 'happy birthday' just that.

That sounds like a terrific experience for both 'Sev' and you. Certainly, your body of work preceded you in becoming the birthday gift for this special occaision.

You mention that 'Sev' had good equipment on hand. Out of curiosity, did you borrow a cue there, or did you travel with your own cue? Any travel issues with your cue, if you took your own?

It sounds like a great trip. Thanks for sharing.

Take care

Switzerland is a beautiful place.

WHat a wonderful opportunity for you and a great birthday present! Thanks for sharing.

Is Seb a member here on AZB? What in the world s on the shelves in the pool room? Are those all board games?!

Grady, it's so nice to hear good news in the pool world for a change.

Seb is one of the nicest guys in pool and extremely knowledgable. He wrote a detailed instructional book. I have a copy, but my high school French only gets me so-far. :o

I only wish there were more like him. That would be great to get him over here to play at DCC. He deserves it.
