My God!

If this doesn't inspire you older guys, I don't know what will. At the very least you have to be very happy for Mr. Whittington.

Some of you know him and those that don't, should. He goes to a lot of the nine ball tournaments, dresses like he has just stepped out of GQ and is a gentleman of the best sort. Mr. Whittington has a few miles on him and you can see it in his gait sometimes but that doesn't keep him from keeping him from competing with pool's elite players.

This week he is in Fayetteville, NC at KING'S BILLIARDS playing in the big $20,000.00 added tournament. What's all the hullabaloo, you say? Mr. Whittington just took down Corey Deuel, I think the score was 9-7.

I have often heard it said by my good friend Jim Jennings that Mr. Whittington is not a man to be taken lightly and that he has mowed down many a top player in his time.

Just wanted to pay tribute to a fine man and a good pool player.

The player list looks like a Who's Who of pool so I guess I will have plenty of opportunities to play a good player in the $5,000 added one pocket division which they will cut off at 64. It starts in about 7 hours so I have to get to the airport.:outtahere: :outtahere: :outtahere:

I agree. Mr Whittington is a rare breed these days. A really nice guy, who will tear you up on a pool table, and have you feeling good about it after it's all over. I would love to see him snap off a big one. He certainly deserves it, if anyone does.

I watched him beat Billy Johnson on center table a few years back. The man's a gentleman, says grace before every meal then shoots the lights out afterwards. He sets an example for both young and old to see. At least I was impressed.

TF is one of my favorite people to talk to and he is a joy to play (but be prepared to sit and watch the old man run out on you) -

Here is a picture of TF at the US Open - he is probably the snappiest dresser in the history of pool!

OMG! How cute is he! I'd love to see the younger pool players in bow-ties! If only I knew this man, I'm sure he has a ton of stories to tell that could keep one entertained for days.

T.F. is one of an exceedingly rare breed these days: a gentle man who is religious and kind, but who will give no quarter on the pool table. He attends church every Sunday morning before tournament time; and he is usually still in the tournament on Sundays!!

Whittington has had bad hips for many years, which causes him to have an exaggerated side to side bending gait. That, along with his style of wearing several expensive gold and diamond rings on his fingers, causes him to have a distinct presence at the pool table.

He has the unshakeable courage of his convictions, and will not suffer fools. On top of that, if you leave him a shot on an open table, he runs out!!

I'm sure Corey never new what hit him!

As I said once previously on this forum, T F Whittington is a true Southern gentleman of the old school. A rare breed these days, I'm afraid. I've seen him play many times.

sounds like someone

He definitely sounds like someone that it would benefit many of the young guns to learn from. How we present ourselves and our behavior off the table says as much to the general public about pool as what we do on the table. Of course there is never a time when beating Corey is really easy either.

My hat is off to this gentleman!

Last night, on the USTREAM live feed, Grady was singing his praises. He was happy to hear that TF had, in his words, the match of his playing career. That's high praise and well deserved.

Congrats TF! Keep it up!

I hope to meet this gentleman one day.. From what I hear, which is ALL good, he is quite a human being. I would rather be left with a legacy like the one that he is creating than to be a World Champion that has little else to show for it.

My hats off to T.F., hope to meet him in the near future.. Thanks to all for sharing the character of this man..

Peace

I have only spoken to Mr. Whittington a couple of times but he is extremely likeable and has a great attitude. However, he will tell you "how it is" without hesitation. I was proud to see him play so well yesterday, especially in light of the unfortunate circumstances surrounding him. Someone broke into his car 2 nights ago and he was dealing with that before and even during the match.

Here's hoping he keeps playing well.

I have played around in pool halls all my life,,and TF is one of the nicest men Ive ever met ! I watched him spank Corey a couple days ago at King Street and I was like WOW !! Grandpa can get out !! Even saw a man get him to sign his Q ball . A snazzy dresser and a lights out shooter ,,we need more of him in this sport !!
