Table smells like smoke, BIG Time

Any suggestions on getting the smoke smell out of the table ?
I've got some thoughts, but wanted some opinions.
I'm going to get it recovered but until it can be done, I'd like to get rid of the smell. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.
 
I bought a Diamond Pro for a pool hall and it reeked of smoke. I used some Fabreeze on it and it help a ton.
 
Hey Maniac, I'm thinking that would be a good idea, but I'd rather give you 2. That way you'll tell me everything.
 
Thanks Jamie, I'm trying a few things, once I get it solved, I'll post what seemed to work in case someone else has the problem.
 
Use a windex type product with ammonia, you spray it on and the nicotine will drip off , use gloves its nasty stuff, I remember doing this to a GC I and the smell reminded me of the 60's when I first started playing, I even wondered if I had played on the table at one time.

I don't think you are gonna totally get rid of that smell till its recovered.
Just like our clothes, the smell can really get in the fabric. Depending on the finish be careful what you apply. Test in a inconspicuous area first.
 
If you have an oscillating fan or even a ceiling fan, spray with Fabreeze and let the fan dissipate some of the smell. You may have to repeat several times. I'd also open a window when you do it. As someone mentioned, you may not completely eliminate the odor until you recover. But, good luck anyway.
 
I used to have an ozone generator, it would take the smoke smell out of anything. Turns out they are dangerous if you leave them on very long in your house. Some fans have ion generators that might work.

I can't remember the name of the spray they use, but if you call a company that does restoration work, or water damage/smoke damage, they can tell you what to use.

We worked on a flooded basement (sewer) last month.....they had it back to normal in about 4 days!!! no lie, I couldn't believe it.
 
Get a big water bong and smoke a couple of pounds of weed with the door closed and the windows down. It won't smell like cigs anymore. Jamison Neu can help you with that.:grin-square:
 
This reminds me of a nice little place I used to play pool. They had the same cloth on the tables for 20 years, and one day I said, Charlie how is it that you got the same cloth my entire life and it plays like new?

He told me that he takes the cloth off the table once every six months and takes it down to the car wash sprays it off, lets it hang dry, and puts it back on. If I ever get a table for myself I plan to see how long I can do this before I have to change it.

I'll bet this would take care of the smell.

BTW as a x smoker I feel your pain.

If you want to buy a replacement table let me know.

I did the vinegar & water yesterday a couple times. The whole table, cloth included. And also sprayed it with Oust a couple times. Then chalk off again.
It dosen't smell at all this morning.

Great Info from The King... Vinegar is some powerful stuff, I have used it to remove the protective coating from new galvanized metal prior to painting. You can immediately see any spots you missed with the vinegar wash because the paint primer will not adhere and blister up instantly. Some of the 'old world' remedies still have their place in our hi-tech world.

Try an AirSource. Call a local Shaklee dealer and ask if you can free trial one of their AirSources. Ask if they have the Turbo module to put into it and explain what you're trying to do.

If they have the Turbo module, you have to block off the room and vents and not allow any creatures in the room while doing the purifying. If you just use the normal module, you can place it on the table and cover everything with a big blanket or tarp for a day or so. That sucker will take out any smell. Plus, you can use it to get rid of any mold, etc. you might have.
