Taking longer to warm up?

I noticed this time when I came back to pool it takes me at least a 30 min. to 45 min. before I'm warmed up to where I'm hiting them with a good fluid stroke and pocketing as good as I can pocket balls. Have any of you noticed this as you have got older? This is not just a question for the over 60 gang on here, guys in their late 40's that were very active in contact sports could start feeling the aches, pains, and tightness already. I play about as much now as I ever did and it use to take me 10-15 min. and I'd be good to gamble. Johnnyt

Same here! I think with age my muscle memory gets forgetful. LOL Sometimes I seem to have zero recall. It's the sh*tz.

Thank God I still have a good long term memory of when I still had a good sex life. Johnnyt

warm up

I am 50 yo sometimes it takes me two hours to warm up. I just try not to dig to big a whole in that time:grin:

Longer to Warm Up

Yeah, I have the same problem - big time! I'm 66 and got back into the game 5 years ago after a 35 year lay-off. You know the story - kids, job, family obligations, etc.
Anyway, I've found that it's taken me about 5 years and counting to warm-up-lol.

I'm 33, but I have same problem too.

Play the scection games always sh?t on first or second games then getting better.

I'm 58 and for me its almost the opposite.
I'm good to go after hitting about 5 minutes of "set shots" and I play very well and very focused right out of the gate.

When I was young, I could go forever and every shot was important. Now I find that after an hour or so, my interest wanes and I'd rather be doing something else, even if I'm playing lights out.

I am closing in on 60. There are some days I never actually get warmed up, and the stroke never quite comes around.

might be becuz since ur eye site an stuff aint what it used tobe ur confadent aint there or it aint what it used tobe an ur not letting ur stroke out ur elbow twist an if u warm up long enough ur stroke an all that will get back in line

some of my older friends 40+ age ask me why when i practice it takes me so long to adjust or get in stroke well its becuz ur eyesite is lower an r con is not all there some of ur brain can.t think like it used to like when u was yunger u have 2 sides of ur brain 1 side tells the other side what to think or do so maybe u should sit down an think about rbreak an running racks an hitting balls an how u used to stand an what not

extended warmup

after a somewhat misspent youth playing sports and participating in other ill advised activities, then adding on 30 years of construction work and 2 back surgeries i am finding that it takes me about 10 to 15 minutes just to get to where i can bend over the table for a shot. i am also finding that my mind wanders more than it used to, now i need some outside factor to get me to concentrate on what i am trying to do. aint getting older great! lol.

I used to walk in cold and play, no warm-up required....

Now, it takes an hour to get the knees and back warm....not to mention a decent stroke....

It used to be that I could be ready with about 5 minutes of warm up. These days sometimes by the time I'm warmed up my body is ready to quit for the day.

Maybe it's because these days I go longer between sessions and need longer warm up time. Before I played much more and time in between playing was just a day or two, now sometimes it's a week or two.

League night tonight. We try and get there early enuff so each member can have at least one warm up game. I have to have at least one game, otherwise my first game is a wash. May as well just close my eyes and pull the trigger.

If I can just hit about 6 or more balls with just center stun speed, I can feel better about not being 'warmed up'

Otherwise I will need about 20 shots I've use to warm up. Mostly the shots are focused on stroked warm up. Inside English and speed shots. If I cannot get warmed up by then, I probably don't need to play..

i'm 42 so i'm not exactly what your looking for, but as you know i've had major back problems for the past 4 years. so i'm a well worn out 42 yr old.

to answere your question, its different everytime I play, today I didnt hit a ball and played a stong player for 4 hours-he is 65, we didnt gamble. the first rack I felt a little rough, he racked the balls I broke(first ball I hit in 3 weeks), I havent hit a single ball in 3 weeks. I played good right away and had a above average level of play today. Other days it takes me 30 minutes. If I cant get warmed up in 30 mins its just not my day and I stop playing. so again for me I never know-I'd say the average is 10-15 minutes to get my head into it and everything working.
