TAR 26 Podcast this Wednesday at 9PM Eastern with Archer and SVB. Any questions ?

Question for Johnny

Why does he appear to like Brunswick tables over Diamond?

Grip Pressure

To both,

Efren recently answerd (per question on stroke technique) that "The grip depends on the amount of speed I want to use and that is something that comes with instinct now". Do both of you also adjust your grip purposefully depending on speed as well. Feel free to expand per Break shot, Safety 'dink' shots, 4-rail position, etc.

Thanks,

Jay P.

To JA:

What accounts for your recent return to your top form? You've always been a monster, but the last year or so seems you've been playing as strong as you've EVER played...all the other "Roadrunners" are no doubt wondering what you're putting in your water and where they can find some...:D

To Johnny: What is your fondest pool playing memory? How is your son coming along?

To Shane: Did Orcullo copy your 10 ball break or vice versa ;)

SJM,

I have never seen or heard of that before.
Did the 10-ball go directly in or did a ball come off the cushion and kick the 10-ball in? How many different pockets did the 10-ball go in?

My experience is that from the original hit, the 10-ball does not move if the balls are touching.

Thanks, and good seeing you again.

Mark Griffin

Generally, in the bottom corners, I believe once in the side.

Just in case it was taped, the match was Mitch Ellerman vs Jennifer Barretta. As the ten was always spotted, there was little, if any, impact on the match itself.

Far more importantly, Mark, congratulations on a job well done. You and CSI are an enduring credit to our sport and one of the pillars on which American pool stands. CTS On Demand is absolutely fantastic, too, and allowed me to track the progress not only of my favorite professionals but of my favorite amateurs, too. You have taken tournament coverage to the next level and should be proud.

It was great seeing you. Thanks for everything you do and wishing you nothing but success in the future.

Johnny, are the intentions of the ABP solely based on making pool a better sport for the player. If so, what does the ABP offer the player to join. Please don't say putting money in escrow. I like to hear five things.

Question!

Question for both players:

Do any of you use (or have used) a stroke slip technique? That is, releasing the cue altogether upon impact, so that the grip hand slips right after the tip contacts the CB. If you use it, do you do it in certain types of shots? (because you don't in all of them...I would have noticed) What is the benefit of this technique? Should one use it in all shots?

P.S. I am not talking about the slip stroke, where at the final backswing, you move your grip hand a little bit further back. I am talking about "releasing" the cue upon impact and slipping your grip hand after the contact with the CB.

Thanks!

Just got word Shane may not make the podcast. He is in LA now and may not be back by 6PM Vegas time. Johnny is confirmed and will be here.

Great questions.

I'm sure it will still be worthwhile.

You and all at TAR can take a deep bow for your outstanding work in covering the US Open One Pocket and US Open 10-ball events in Las Vegas.

Johnny:

What are your favorite BIG events and why (DCC.. Turning Stone... US Open)

Being a married guy with kids do you think that it makes you focus more on winning or adds more pressure to your matches??

First question is for both players. They are no doubt USA's 1 and 2 players. How do they feel they match up with the rest of the world. For instance orcollo and pagulayan or wu and yang or any other countries 1,2 punches.

Next I would like to know how they prepare for a big match like this. Table time in hours, what drills, exercise etc.

Thanks in advance.

Is Archer really presently better than Dechaine, Morris, Deuel, or even Earl?

Ask Johnny to tell us his side of the story when he had the famous money match with Busty and won 13 straight.

How do you cope with losses..especially big ones for big $$?

Do you practice any specific breathing techniques during matches?

Are you religious? Does religion play a part in your game/motivation/preparation?

Any stories of times gambling or at poolhalls that got dangerous for you?

After playing an amazing shot, how do you get yourself back in focus to finish the rack) (Many lower level players seem to miss the easy shot after making the hard one.)

How many balls ahead do you think when planning a rack/run?

Spoke with Shane last night and he will not be here for the podcast tonight.....but dont worry all you Shaneiacs (going way back for that one) he will be in town Thursday night so we'll do a podcast with him then.

So the final deal is:
