I know we've seen it before but

To not have Alex involved in a "who's the best 10baller" discussion is ludicrous to me. If anyone thinks these 2 are stealing playing him, you're just plain wrong.
 
I'd rather have shorter races that are more likely to be close and exiting than a long race where you could see a win by 10-20 games.
 
I would like to see the race to 100. Both of these guys can hit some serious gears so he long format would be exciting. Race to 75 would be great also

This is about the next TAR match, not who the best 10 ball player is.

Ah, his last line. I don't think he was asking to find out who it is, otherwise you have to have a TAR round-robin over a week with about 10 players with races to 30. More of a nice statement about the quality of the players in the match. It would be like a tournament putting out a flyer that said "come watch the best players play" and someone posts "you can't say that, these 2 good players from China are not in it".

Most complete test of playing skill and mental strength: Race to 75
Most interesting/exciting for viewers: best of 3 sets
Most fair financially(?): guessing best of 3 sets

I'm not sure if it matters which format is more fun for the players.
But IMO having a long race over multiple days kind of puts the day 1 loser
at a disadvantage, mentally. I bet statistically the guy who was behind
the first day loses a lot more than half the time. Maybe he's just
an inferior player and is supposed to.

But to some extent I wonder if the score weighs down on players
and might send someone into giveup mode.

Like if shane is ten racks down to dennis at the end of day 1,
On day 2 it almost feels like he's racing dennis to 50 and spotting him ten games.
How tough would that be to fade? Sure, he made his own bed. I'm just saying
that the mental advantage is huge and it kind of makes the first day more important
than it should be.

Whereas with three sets, each day is a new ball game, the guy who lost yesterday feels like
he's got a fresh start today.

I don't have the numbers but I'm guessing that since switching to 3 sets format,
tar not only has more viewers but the people who buy are much less likely to blow off
a few hours or even a full day of their purchased stream. Why move backwards?

Yeah perhaps you're right. I think that statement could be taken a couple of ways though but you're probably right. Don't think that you need to invite more than a handful players though if that were ever on the table.
 
Long race is better preferably to 100 or 120 for the purpose of comparing performances to old matchups. I think 100 is the perfect number to pit these two juggernauts. I'd like to see how they can string packages back and forth and the possibility of a comeback reminiscent to 90's Earl vs Efren. For the mean time I'll have to vote to 75 but hope for tad longer race just for historical significance
 
How bout this is an option. Play all 3 days, start at 4 or 6 pacific time. Have them play 10 hours each of the 3 days. 20 minute break every 3 hours. Takes 11 hours. Whatever the score is it is, but they may reach 200 this way. You will see some packs , some ups and downs, etc.

I don't think the viewers would mind, and I doubt Dennis or SVB would. As they always say anyhow is, they just want to play pool.

One set or 3 days will not determine who's better anyhow, maybe if they played like 30 days in a row we could determine the better player.
 
Race to 75, I don't like paying for all 3 days then only getting 2 days, happened twice in a row to me with Shane vs Mike then vs Darren.

Interesting thought...and don't let them know the score until the end of the last day?
 
I voted race to 75, primarily because I want to see all three days. I would prefer a race to 100. The race to 27 against Mike and Shane only went about three hours. I think this one would be closer, but I'm guessing the total for three days would be about 16 hours.

I think both have merit for their own reasons. Less chance of a blowout in the races to 30, but with the long race you have a chance of capturing history. I still think the Action Challenge 3 was the best race I have ever witnessed.

Regardless of the format, I'm still in as long as I'm not working that weekend.

My gut tells me multiple sets is the way to go but lately there has been some people saying they want to see these guys in a long set so I wanted to see what people think.

Just to keep things on track: Not interested in if someone thinks they should play an all around of banks, cowboy and snooker. Just long set or multiple sets of one game. I know this will do no good but I had to say it for my own sanity.

So what do you think is a good way to see who the best ten ball player in the world is over the course of a weekend?

How about a race to 75 but the player who wins 25 games first on each day gets a $500 bonus?

For example, day 1 ends with Orcullo leading 25-19. Orcullo gets the bonus.
In day 2 SVB gets to 44 before Orcullo gets to 50. SVB gets the bonus even if Orcullo ends the day leading 50-44. The situation is the same in day 3. SVB gets the bonus if he gets to 69 before Orcullo gets to 75.

It might help keep the intensity up since there's a fresh stake every day.

I think it should be done in a way that guarantees 3 days of matches. Even if they play races to 25, it shouldn't be a 2 out of 3 proposition, all 3 sets should be played. I do prefer the all around format myself as I get bored easily with strictly rotation games. JMHO

A lot of people claim SVB can't be beat in a long race. So, play to 75 or 100 and see if Orcollo could prove that notion wrong.
