Here it might have been a close poll. But I think if you wanted Billiards on ESPN, the general audience would prefer seeing a 11 pack run out by Earl

no they would rather look at Jeanette's ass or the other girls who play.(no disrespect meant, to her or any female players, she is a true champion and is VERY important in pool, great lady whom I admire) but she is beautiful and I call it as I see it, so I said it.

If the ones that were worried about only getting 2 days for 3 days pay and that was fixed most would vote for 3 days. Johnnyt

This thread is an example of what's great about the AZB forum. Everybody has an opinion, and in nearly cases an informed one, so JCIN puts together a survey of how we all feel about certain aspects of his proposed or planned productions.

The forum membership cannot dictate to TAR every last detail of how their matches should be handled, but threads like these offer TAR useful information that they may use or ignore as they see fit.

TAR's ongoing dialogue with the would-be purchasers of its product shows the way, and JCIN has always sought the input of pool enthusiasts in putting the TAR matches together. That's how it is done.

3/30 better drama.

Long packages can be boring and are more likely in the 75 set.

Might I suggest 2 out of 3 sets; however instead of a third full set, there simply be some sort of tie-breaker (spot shots?) to end it in a guaranteed 2 days. 3 days is too long.

No, he was comparing rotate break and winner break. Women were not even brought into the equation.

But if it is going to be like that, I will give you the 7 out with Shanelle Loraine lol...

I don't really agree with the blowout factor being a major detractor to long races. First of all these two guys are closely matched. I can't see anyone giving up more than 5 games on the wire between them in a race to 100. The two best matches I have ever seen filmed involved great players overcoming great deficits. Efren vs. Earl, and Alex vs. Shane. Those two matches have a place in pool folklore now. I would pay $50 easily to see Shane and Dennis play a race to 100, old school. And then we also get 3 guaranteed days which is a big plus for me too.

The race was decided well before Justin or TAR was even a thought... Back when Accu-Stats was a fledgling......... Color of Money... Reyes vs Strickland... Race to 120..... If you can't do 120 get as close as you can friggin get.....

We want the Titans to play epic races...

In 2 out of 3... ohh well... You can check out and recoup...

Let's see the true character, grind, grit and color.....

Variety!

I voted for 3 sets of 30. In the end, it doesn't matter as long as we see different games, rules, etc. That is what I like about pool is its ability to metamorphose. It has variety and changes. Sometimes, it may even mutate (soft breaks). This comes from the gambling background of pool. Whatever it takes to matchup with someone! And in the end, all of this makes the game interesting. In the 80's most people would say that Buddy Hall was the best player. But, on the bar box, many would say Matlock. Payball...Searcy.

What will work today, will not necessarily work tomorrow. Run with it and take advantage of this. The world is your limits with pool. :)

Thanks to everyone for voting in the poll and giving their opinions.

After looking at the poll results, reading all the posts and talking to the players I have decided, in classic pool world style, to use neither of the choices.

We are going old school for this one. Race to 100. If it doesn't work so be it. Its TAR 35 and it just feels right to me. Thanks for all the input. Official announcement will be out Monday.

I was hoping for the different break rules :frown:

Try to do that in one of the matches, would be great to see two equal players and how they do with alternating break vs winner breaks.

I'm a winner breaks guy and personally can not stand alternate break. TAR has its roots in action matches and I can not ever remember seeing two guys match up for the cash and play alternate breaks. I'm sure its happened I just haven't seen it. So unless there is some huge demand beyond three or four posts for alternate or loser breaks (which I know I have never seen) it probably wont happen.

One thing that I do think is interesting is a tennis scoring format with each guy breaking all the games in short set and alternating sets until someone wins the match. That would be a pretty big step out there. Maybe at some point in the future we will try that but for these two guys at this point in time I think the long set with the old format makes sense. Hopefully a lot of people find it interesting. If not oh well...won't be the first time.

So pumped to see the Race to 100 back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Race to 100 format will be awesome. In the long run and keeping with the race to 100, this could be like boxing and having the world heavy weight title.

Race to 100. For this game, with these two guys, I agree. It just feels right. No funny-sized table, no funny break rules. Just one long race with two players at the top of their games. The side action should be sick.

... real old school TAR would be race to 100 using a wooden diamond rack, rack your own and not the magic rack (regardless of distribution rights for North America) tug.. pull.. 2 in the side.. Perfect (LOL)... ;)
