Tar 35

I didn't see much until it was 12 -5 (my dam new hookup from laptop to Plasma).

Shane went into a funk (54 racks total were played) for @ 11 racks and Dennis cut the lead to 4, somewhere around 20-16. Shane had temporarily slumped in his chair, having taken risky/cocky shots. Then, for reasons unbeknownst to me, he flipped the switch and went animal. He closed out day one from there in amazing fashion.

I saw an increase in his power stroke tonight. Way to go go Kid!!!!

IMMEDIATELY afterwhich, as someone posted, Dennis went to practicing his break. With not much success....

Shane's break was vastly superior - which breeds run out confidence and probability.

Whomever guessed in TAR's $100 challenge it'd be Shane 35 - 0 ... That may have been the closest guess!

Shane has a little cockiness to him and is a frontrunner. If a little heat gets applied then he sometimes gets a little dog in his stroke. But it's still Shane and if he works it out and focuses then the break is what makes the difference, it's worth 3-4 games every 10-12 games in my opinion at least.

I had one flat screen Plasma TV and another laptop - to watch BB and TAR simultaneously. I chose TAR initially for the plasma. I never switched. Was it disinterest in the BB teams playing? No. Was it the "product" being delivered? Dunno yet. Was it because I paid for one? No.

Well... In this case, for me, it boiled down to 2 of the WORLD's best 10 ball players going head to head on an incredible stream. What's not to like @ Shane and Dennis?

That was can't miss TV. We have BB for another 7 months or so.

GREAT stream! Just like watching a televised match. Good commentary, I like listening to my buddy Cotton talk about pool. He's a die hard like me. Nice camera work too. I would say TAR is second best in overall quality to Accu-Stats.

One thing they got a little wrong. If you don't want players to use a break or playing cue to shoot jump shots, then the rule is simply "no jump shots allowed." If the rule is "no jump cues" then that applies to the special short cues made for jumping balls. It does not outlaw jumping balls with either your playing cue of break cue. That is the way we word it in tournaments, so a player can still jump a ball, just not use a shorty jump cue.

One last thing. If Shane plays like that, no one in the world can beat him on that table. Dennis has no defense against that high level offense.

I heard a rumor Dennis flew in on the day of the match. If so, very poor planning on his part. He certainly played like he was jet lagged.

+1

If we can't support this ... then what??? TAR put on some incredible match ups in recent months. I mean Efren and Shane in all around ... and Dennis and Shane battling for 3 days and going to 100 in 10 ball ... these are incredible match ups.

P.S. Does anyone know if JJ got Bonus Ball gig as a result of his announcing on TAR (and very favorable feedback from the audience) or was that already in the work?

Yea but he flew in from LA it's only about an hour flight. I doubt he had jet lag !!

Well I think he had to fly in from the Philippines to LA. Don't know when he did that, not that it would've made a huge difference with the way SVB is playing. Dennis did look very much out of his element from what we are accustomed to seeing from him.

Any day 1 stats?

Dennis was in LA for a couple day practicing at Jay's house. He had meetings in LA on Thursday which is why he didnt fly into Vegas until 9 AM Friday.

The jump cue thing was a miscommunication and my fault. My intent was the players must jump only with their playing cue. I didn't say that though I said no jump cues. No one used a jump cue. Things will continue for the rest of the match as is. In the future it will be playing cue only.

Bill Stock is writing the TAR rules for future matches and I will be creating some policies about payment, travel, dress and conduct that will all be put together so in the future I can give the packet to the players and everyone is on the same page.

Hey man .. since you're up .. the overhead camera view seemed a bit hazy? Or is me that's hazy?

One of the reasons is that camera is a small consumer camera so some of it is just the difference between a $400 camera and the $4000 cameras we use for the other angles. To get that view in the space allowed I had to make some compromises. I'm not crazy about it but at the moment its either that or not have that angle at all. Its something I will be working on to try and improve.

That was an amazing event last night JCIN. The camera nor the jump remotely affected anything for me or the match. Tweak as you will (you perfectionist), as you always have to the betterment.

You nailed it and we enjoyed the hell out of it. Saying "Well done" doesn't begin to cover it.

Why can't TAR do this 30 weeks in a row with all them world beaters across the street? ;)

Jcin...TAR is a luxury item for us, but DAMN! Is is good.
I'd rather have TAR than toothpaste, but fortunately, not a choice i need to make.
Thanks for all your work that brings such an incredible product to us. Be proud of what you build and continue to improve upon. It is an amazing time we live in.

Love your one liner when score was 19svb to 14 dennis:
"He's not in Godzilla mode no more...Oh shit now he's gotta pay attention"

Why not let them use the break cue? Personally I like the idea of being able to use a break cue to jump with.

I always thought that it was a bad rule to allow jump shots but only with the playing cue. It's unfair to the player who prefers soft tips and LD shafts. Some playing cues are almost impossible to jump with - while others can easily jump.

A full length and weight cue limits the shots anyway. The types of jumps Dennis was making were classic pool, Earl-style long shots. The couple that he tried that were short he messed up pretty good.

Shane's defense against the jump shot is obvious: if you mess it up you'll probably be sitting out the next three or four racks.
