TAR and DCC

I would like to hear something from Justin or the DCC folks. I have a funny feeling that things may be up in the air...i.e., no official response yet. But as I peice the puzzle together it doesn't look good.

That's a real bummer. Watching through TAR used to be the next best thing to being there.

I am so glad I got to go when it was at the Executive West. That place is going to go down in history as the magical time of the DCC. It was the right spot for that event on so many levels.

I don't know if I even want to go to DCC in a sterile casino environment. I did enough of that at the Vegas shows. While there is something incredibly impressive at seeing hundreds of tables lined up in a room nothing compares to the DCC rooms at the Executive West. All that old wood and cathedral ceilings just made for the perfect atmosphere. Me, being a child of the Color of Money, was always more impressed with the scene in the lounge at the end where the players are betting proposition shots and Eddie takes a seat at the end of the bar than in the scene where all the tables are lined up in the big room for the tournament.

TAR really became a fixture for me to be at the DCC vicariously. It was sad to see the tournament move to a casino and even sadder to see the end of TAR's involvement. I hope it's not permanent.

Executive West was equivalent to the ole' Johnston City. Both places are legends for the amount of gambling and degree of players.

I agree and am privileged to have visited both.

I have to hijack the thread real quick to profess my man crush on you Royce. I have never really tried an OB shaft and tonight I got a new (to me) Schon with a custom fitted OB2 shaft.

This might be the best hitting shaft I ever hit with. I will elaborate in another thread at a later date but you really managed to put out a MONSTER shaft with this one.

And I agree the DCC at the Executive West is done forever. Just like Johnston City at the Showbar, it's over and never will be again. Those of us who were lucky enough to experience it when it came to like just as Greg Sullivan envisioned it will never forget it. In years to come we will be the ones telling our DCC-EW stories and comparing them to the "casino years". :-)

John

Glad to hear you like it!

We have lots of things in store for this year starting the our sponsorship of the TAR24 match with Shane and Busty. We've also re-priced our J-line of cues to make them a great value for the money, and will also launch a new line built here in our shop. Watch our new website for pictures, www.obcues.com.

Thanks

I won't be making the trip this year. I love the Derby but last year was a tough one. Its a lot of work and even with the help Diamond provided very expensive. Also the last few years I found myself feeling like a babysitter and I caught myself acting like a bit of an asshole because of it. I don't like being like that and it just stopped being fun. Another issue is quite frankly there is TOO MUCH stuff going on at the Derby now. Years ago you saw the top guys mixing it up a lot more...now there are so many mini tournaments/side events/challenges that they just dont have time. It has changed the complexion of the action a great deal IMO.

I'll miss hanging out with all the great people I see there every year but it is time for a break at least for me. I still would recommend the Derby as a must visit for every pool fan. There is nothing else like it in the pool world and my reasons for not going are based on things the average guy would never see or experience.

Wouldn't surprise me to see someone else go in and stream. The Diamond guys are great to work with and if any streamer is interested you should talk to Greg Sullivan.

I know it was a tough deal for you the way it has been set up and I totally see why you are not gonna put yourself through it again. I will definitely miss having you set up because it is one of the highlights of Derby for me but if I had to deal with your end of it I would have thrown in the towel before now.

If you change your mind about attending you are always welcome to curl up on my floor right beside big Jeramie......

I just pictured a maid opening your room door and seeing me and Jeremy passed out on the floor under blankets. She would think you had a couple manatees stashed in your room.

LOL.... Dios Mio !

Imagine having to step over that to get to the pisser in the early morning hours after strapping on a blistering drunk..... it ain't pretty.

It was always nice to go home and check the stream for the action. Even though I live in this area I liked being able to have that option.

kudos to/for J doing it this long.

And little Randy Vaughn on the left.....:o

Any 2 people that make Justin look "smallish" by comparison are some pretty good sized fellers.

I think every year the casino says the internet will be better, we will fix it blah blah blah and it seems that it never is !
That being said, if somebody else does intend to go to do streaming I hope they will talk to Pat Fleming also.
I can understand you not going Justin. Not a whole lot happened in the action area last time around. And or they didn't want to be streamed !

Looks like a great match you have coming up in a few weeks. Good luck with everything, Zilla.
