TAR Podcast #17 Tonight at 9 Eastern. Topic Suggestions?

what about the idea of a calcutta for the us open 10 ball and other pro events

calcuttas are a headache and not worth the money made for having one.
It also give guys another reason to chop.
I understand people are trying to make a living and the chop makes sense in some cases.
But when there is a paying audience you are cutting your own throat by having players chop and the play level drops once the chop is made

is there a modern-day (american) "Mosconi" or "Hoppe-like" icon ?
in other words, a total master, with class, that pretty much everyone (in the pool world) respects and perhaps even idolizes...

who or why not

Podcasts uploads on YouTube!

I'd like to know what's up with the last couple TAR podcats uploads to YouTube!(?).

The last one cutoff at 32min I think.

In a small time banger tournament there is nothing wrong with 1st and 2nd place chopping up the prize fund. Nobody is there to watch them play and nobody is betting on them. They split the money and flip a coin for who gets the trophy.

With professionals or you've got an audience... its not ethical.

Aloha,

I took a chop for 1st, 2nd in NC once and forever regret it. You might consider it a banger tourny but it still leaves a sour taste in my mouth and I will never do it again.
Mahalo,
Carl

Hello Justin, here is something I posted that has drawn some interest.

I think it would be interesting if someone like TAR put up a prize fund for anyone who could break Mosconi's high run record. Any one who wanted a shot at the cash, would come to the TAR studio and practice for a while, then give Justin a set amount of money for a shot at the cash and record, they would be given a certain amount of tries to beat the record, if they fail, then Justin would then add the money to the prize fund. I would think the prize fund would grow quite rapidly. Winning the prize fund would be nice, but beating Willie's record would be priceless. Can you imagine being lucky enough to catch the record being broken, live on a stream. The DVDs of the record being broken would definitely be in demand. I think something like this would draw out all the big dogs. I think it would only be fitting and fair, if it was being played on the same kind of equipment and cloth that Willie set the record on. I think then we might get a better comparison of the great players of today to the great players of the past.

Heres a few suggestions....:-)

Justin, I know you said TAR would never do exhibition matches and usually were not pumped about the ones people did in the past. What made you change your mind? I personally think its great and there will be more matches and the players will still be playing hard. I also heard Mike say he would bet Dennis up to $5000 on the side, you might want to relay that to Dennis and this could be a $15000 total match.
