Mark Griffin and I will be doing a podcast tonight at 9PM Eastern on www.theactionreport.com to talk about the upcoming OB TAR 33 and 34 matches and other topics in the pool industry such as SBE, the recent Accu-Stats Make It Happen One Pocket event and the 2013 BCAPL Nationals in July.

If anyone has any topic suggestions or questions please post them up. If you have time tonight please join us live.

I would find out more info about the US Open 9 ball and if its going to happen again and which players will and will not go.

I would like to know how they would match up with CJ with all the talk going on it. He said he would play any of them even, but save SVB for last. What are their thoughts on this?

Alex and Busty will be here Thursday for a podcast. Tonight its Mark and I.

I am positive if CJ wants to gamble with Alex or Busty all he has to do is call them.

I have some opinions on the open and we will discuss it tonight. The only solid info I have is whats been released. Mark may know more.

My thoughts exactly.

I know there has been a lot of talk lately of an undercard match, or some sort of odd ball match, like Scotch double, juniors, old school, just something a bit different than the norm. Any progress with this?

It might be nice discussing the 2008 (I think) TAR match between efren and Shane. I remember watching it live on the stream from DCC. I believe it was well over 50k a side. Could generate more interest in the upcoming match by showing their past rivalry.

Good idea. My memory on some details are fuzzy but I remember a few things that might be interesting.

It comes down to time and money. Will spending either on an undercard match have any measurable effect on the PPV ? I do not believe it will. I'm not opposed to doing something for free before the match but I also am not going to spend a bunch of time setting up and organizing it. The day of a TAR match I start about 6 AM and go till its over. There are a million little details that have to be taken care of from sound checks to buying ice for the drinks in the studio and every other thing. Without fail something always pops up that needs attention. Because of this I am not in a big hurry to start adding things unless I know they will benefit the bottom line and will not take away from the quality of the PPV.

It is an ongoing topic and one I think is worth discussing. My opinion is based on practicality and knowing when its all said and done I will be the one responsible for doing the work if we say its going to happen so thats why I am non-committal on it.

How about on a match day you wear one of those Go Pro cameras and then edit it out to show what all goes into making the event run? I'm sure a lot of people would be interested in seeing the set up and other details that are behind the scenes.

Any thoughts on maybe getting Thorsten Hohmann in the studio in the near future? He's been one of the hottest players on the planet lately albeit without a recent tournament win. Also he'd make for a good player in an all around featuring 8, 14.1, and ten ball.

We did something along those lines at Reno this year: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kcaJRmyjwqk

For a TAR match it would pretty boring. Me hunched over a computer or running around the studio fixing things that work any other day and choose the last minute to screw up.

I talked to Thorsten at Reno about doing a match and he was open to it. Just have to find something that works out for all involved.

CJ probably have the skill to match up with anyone, but i am afraid he needs at least one to two years continuous play in serious competitions to regain the competing skills needed, talking about it for him is not gonna cut it.

Not really on point..except involves Efren..Justin do you think there could be enough interest to consider an Efren vs Parica match up? 1P, rotation and? ?. Probably not enough interest to be viable but could be interesting to some older fans.

You and TAR do a great job. Thanks.

second vote for toastie. his shotmaking is unreal in 9b/10b, and nobody wants to draw him in straight pool either. He definitely held his own vs. shane at SBE.

Does BCAPL have any future plans to get the local and national rankings aligned? It seems to me that it would be hard to rank people based solely on an event that's put on once a year.
