this last tar match up went 179 racks. Ok, so there were some technical difficulties at the start of day 3, and we lost 12 racks. Let's say because of work and being able to get home in time, you miss another 30 or so racks over 3 days, that's almost 140 racks that you can watch world champions play for $25. Less than 20 cents a rack.
During these matches, there are always some new patterns, cue ball paths and definitely safeties that i see for the first time and practice and try to incorporate in my game. Hell, i don't even think you can get a one hour lesson for $25.
I have always been less risk averse than many when it comes to e-commerce, but paypal may be the safest vehicle on the net. Owned by ebay, a $33b market cap organization, it's good enough for me, although i do understand some peoples' concerns. Perhaps a prepayment program?
I actually hold events at my house during tar matches, winner stays on the table and the losers/rackers-to-be watch the match. I even stream it live on the big screen (haven't tried the projector, but a 55" big screen is pretty good) in the pool hall during our in-house league matches to try to get the name out. Everyone's reaction is always the same: Wow, these guys are good, followed by, is it really just $25 for all 3 days?
I happen to purchase all the dvd's as well as the streams, so i would like to see some kind of dvd discount to stream purchasers, but now, i'm just getting greedy. What i would really love to see is the recovery or even a rematch of earl/shane, or better yet rematch of alex/shane.
Sorry for such a long post, but this is one of those things that i can't believe everyone isn't jumping on. Not sure what the obstacles are, but from an entertainment and learning tool, i think it is the best value period.
I hope to see more tar matchups in the future, and you can bet i'll be double dipping with the stream and the dvd's.
