Thank You....south dakota kid

Shane,

Congratulations on a well-deserved victory. I was lucky enough to meet up with Shane, John, JCIN, and Easy E for some wings on Friday night after everyone finished their matches. To mirror JCIN's comments, Shane is a great, down-to-earth type of guy. He was considerate, kewl to hang out with, and just a great guy to be around......not the typical egomaniacs I've seen in pool and other sports.

Congrats to Shane for a great victory....best of luck to you in the future, the SouthDakotakid got skills :D

Shane story

Just a little story about Shane that shows the kind of guy he is. One of the bigger leagues in southern MN had there year end tournament and Shane was there. He hung out and talked with people, played some cheap sets with guys wanting to see what they could do against him. But the highlight of the weekend was this matchup. A little guy (maybe 10?) walked up to Shane (with the urging of some adults) and asked Shane to play for a $1.00! Shane accepted the challenge and played some 8 ball with this kid for about half an hour. He made some shots, but let the kid get plenty of shooting in. The final matches were taking place and these two had just as many people watching them as the other matches. The look on the kids face after they were done was priceless. :)

Congrats Shane!

Shane,

Outstanding win! You're quickly becoming the top American player in these international events.

Do you know Lee H., formerly from SD? If so, can you PM his contact info.?

Congrats again,
Yukon Ed

Congratulations Shane, I can't begin to imagine how you felt after winning in Jacksonville, that was one tough field to come out on top of. I look forward to seeing you play in the future and best of luck in the future!

Congratulations Shane!!!

Congratulations on winning the World 10-ball... you truly deserve to be recognized as the next great player from the USofA..

I am looking forward to the future battles between you and Orcullo... although expect me to be on Orcullo's side LOL :D

Good luck and all the best...

Congratulations Shane on your world title! I hope to see you again in the New Mexico Open this year! :p

Very nice gesture to play the kid for (almost) nothing, while giving the kid a priceless moment to remember. Just a few minutes of Shane's time, yet it makes such a long-lasting impression on not only the child, but also the child's parents as well as all of us who continue to relay the story. It's one thing to be a champion, it's another to be a champion to the fans. Shane seems to be a true champion on both fronts.

Thank you Shane...

Congrats

Shane, Congrats on the big win. I hope all of the support from the board helped. A couple other threads asked what kind of equipment you were using. I was wondering if you could provide your cue & it's weight, shaft(make, diameter), tip, and break cue if you use one?
Second, are you planning on attending the $25,000 added Turning Stone Joss Tour event in late August?

Thanks again and keep up the great play.

great stuff..thanks for posting here and congrats on your 10ball championship!

Congrats Shane!!!

First and most importantly I want to say congrats to Shane!!! It is very seldom that you will ever see anyone with so much drive and passion for anything as Shane has for the game of pool. To those that have said that Shane is still improving you probably have no idea how much he has kept improving! I was lucky enough to work in the poolhall where Shane called home for the last few years and BigNasty, Chuck, and I really witnessed Shane improve 10 fold.

In the last few years we watched Shane go from one of the best players in the state to one of the best players in the world. On an average day I would watch Shane practice for 4 or 5 hours and then play anyone with any possible weight for another 6 or 8 hours. The amazing thing is this kid is so damn driven and focused that you just knew he would be a world class player. He could be playing a B player and giving such a crazy spot that just a mistake or two would cost him the set and he would push himself to play world class pool everyone all the time by giving them the world. The kid just loves pushing his game and constantly improving. The scary thing is he is finally matching up with some of the best in the world like Orcollo and others that can really push him to a even higher level because he will never settle for second best!

Congrats on the win, all your friends in South Dakota and North Dakota knew it was just a matter of time.

Take care,

Spencer

Shane? Shane who? Never heard of him. Must be some new kid from Iowa or someplace. Probably just got lucky.

So lucky they invited him to the World Pool Championships this year. I'm sure they'll teach him a thing or two over there. Can't have these young kids spoiling all their fun. Especially not one from America. It was bad enough when Alex started to win everything, but at least he was filipino.

you have to go with him when he goes there. steer him in the right direction... I'm sure after winning a few from Dennis they are dying to meet Shane. That ought to be fun!
