The Arizona Rating System

so us 5's are out of luck? or just should be concentrating on things other than 1 pocket I'm assuming...lol

Those rating numbers are Kolby's in-house one pocket ratings for Preacher Ronn's tournament, not AZ state ratings.

If you wanted to play in that tourney, you would just come in at the lowest one pocket rating (6) since you are new to the game.

sweet...although i would probably still need weight against similarly rated players...i'm THAT bad...lol

This thread isn't dying is it? I thought maybe we could compete a little with that crazy Iowa thread.

Anyone else thinking of playing in the 15 & under Scotch at Skip and Jan's next weekend? They have to have the best tables in all of Arizona now!

Well just for you Jerry. There was an 8 and under Saturday at Stingers. There were 27 players. Not bad. Wouldn't say tournaments are dead in Phoenix. I wasn't there to the final but i will bet that the two players in the finals were two 8s. Why? They were the best players by more than the 1 game handicap. Not complaining just the reality. It's a handicapping system that benefits the better players but it still gets lesser players out to play. The best players should not be complaining AT ALL.

The difference between a 7 and 8 on the bar table is very minimal, I am sure plenty of 7's can beat me on the bar table in 8 or 9 ball.

I actually went down to Stingers and walked in at about 12:15 PM and there was nobody there, so I assumed no turnout and left. Glad to hear they had a pretty good field. I apologize for not making my standard donation to the winners!

yeah but you're not a very good bar table 8. i could beat you for gawd's sake. But you couldn't beat JR or Brian hardly ever on a bar table. IMHO.

Close, but

Well let's see. There was a big 8 and under tournament at Metros a couple weeks ago. The big winners were, wait for it, the 8's including one Eddie as i remember. All the cries about the handicap systems by the good players and players that don't play and still mostly the better players win. What's that mean? You might not like the handicap system but it still benefits the better player. So what's your argument exactly.

'One Eddie' did play but not 'big winner'. One Eddie got beat by two 7's 7-1! One Eddie played two days and failed to recover his entry fee. One Eddie sucks.

I agree with your point that open handicapped tournaments still tend to favor the better players - just makes it harder for them to run over the rest of the field. Isn't this the way all handicapped tournaments work: where weaker players only get a percentage (80% to 93%) of the difference in skill level?

JAM get out of an Arizona thread. Stalker.

You're kind of hung upon that word "stalker." You caught my attention in another thread when you quoted my post and attacked me for no reason. Not only did you attack me, but you proceeded to tell a lie that I thought leagues and the people that played on them were a waste.

You are a rotter liar to say such a thing about me on this forum. I have gone out of my way to say numerous times the leagues were where it's at when it comes to pool in the United States.

I will post in any thread I want. Take your own advice. If there was ever a forum stalker, it is you. Ask all othe other forum members you have attacked for no damn reason than you wanting to cause hurt and/or anger.

I will pray for you to have a better life. Healthy people don't hurt people. Hurt people hurt people. You must not be a very happy man.

Was there a lot of LSD use in your younger days?

mlalum,

I don't know the details of past disagreements between you and JAM, but I do think you have her wrong. I have never met her face to face, but my intuition tells me she is a very nice person.

I have met you face to face, however, and I'm pretty sure JAM has you wrong, as well. I know forum fighting can be a lot of fun, but some people's skin (JAM's) isn't as thick as others (yours).

Do you think you could lighten up some? Please?

Roger

I respect your opinion Roger. But talk to me about this again when you actually know both parties. And you read more carefully what's actually been said. You do have one thing right. She can dish but can't take it. Not a good formula for posting as much as she does on a forum.

For your knowledge. It wasn't two "8's" in the finals it was a seven and a eight and the hotseat belonged to a seven.......me. J.R won the tournament final set went hill-hill. On a barbox there is not alot of difference between 7 and 8
