Hi Fellow AZers,

I just got the first DVD yesterday. I ran straight home and watched it. I have the rest on my list.

The first thing I would like to say is, Efren is one if not the best cuests I have ever had the honor of seeing. So that being said, we know he is the man.

Now as for Earl. WOW, this guy is amazing. Once he got in his groove, the only thing slowing him down was dry breaks. His shot making and position play are top notch. And the pattern play by him is great (I am a Buddy Hall worshiper, but love all great pool).

The reason I write this, isn't to state something new to the world, it is to say, one the DVD is worth getting, and try to remember that Earl might have issues, but the man was one of the greatest 9 ball players ever (IMO).

I can't wait until next month for the second one :D.

it is a great match!!! i think it is the greatest match i have ever seen. i was abt 9 yrs old when i first saw that match LIVE when they aired it in the philippines. i think the match is history.
 
it's some of the best pool ever played. Efren's matchplay pool was amazing to hang in there when Earl was just on fire to say the least. But you cant argue with Earl's offensive play for that match - it was a thing of beauty and of course i'm taking nothing away from efren, but you have to say earl threw it away in the end - if he'd have just kept his head.

regardless, there was no loser in that match - they both played amazing pool and gave us one of the best matches ever to watch on film.

It's the greatest match i've ever seen also. I wish everyone who plays and enjoys 9 ball could see that match. It's just plain and simple top notch 9 ball from the beginning to the end......

The day I heard about it,I ordered the whole match,and even scheduled at work to be off the day it was to arrive. I watched the entire match IN ONE SITTING :eek:. Tommy D.
 
Earl was ahead 87-104 one time going to 120 and lost. YIKES!
What's really not known is it was suppose to be race to 100 only but was stretched to 120 when they got to HK.
The money split was 75-25.
The Australian promoter Bob Moore died the year after.
 
I have always been a huge fan of this match. It is really unlike any other match video out there, by any company/website. The last tape/DVD is an absolute dead stroke 9-ball clinic! Both Earl and Efren display a lot of emotion and heart and some absolutely devastating pool. Its like a hollywood movie ending with all the drama and twists.

I know some people think their DVD's are too expensive, but at $26 (I think thats the price) you might never see 9-ball in the same light again. It's one of those DVD's that makes you immediately wanna put your cue together when you watch it. Not sure what the whole set costs, but I'll start saving up as soon as I find out.
