Hay Marcus

You have a sweet looker there. I wish the case was strapless with a handle and with her backside on the backside! Coming and going!
Hot case man!

Nick :)

You have to see the panels in person to really appreciate the work. Rex's art here is essentially relief sculpture in leather. I have seen three of his case panels in person (including this one) and this goes far beyond tooling.

I would be honored to own such a cue case.

Great work, Rex!!

Haha Nick. Actually, that DID come up as a suggestion! Another suggestion was to 'puff' out her boobs. It's done by wetting the leather then using something like a spoon to push it out from behind. Then you fill it with leather dust and glue so it keeps the shape. That would have been hilarious. Maybe next time. :D I can definitely see 3D leathercrafting being used in cue cases.

Whats after that? Mixing some fish oil in her thong paint for a little scratch and sniff?

I think that may have been done. Remember the big dealer type soft case, I think it was a instroke, that had a stagecoach scene. A couple of the horses pulling the stagecoach looked like they may have had that treatment done to them, they really stood out. It would have looked cool on her boobs too.

It was. The technique is called embossing. For some really extreme examples people should check out Clay Banyai's work and also Silva Fox. http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showuser=12

We do it a lot on our cases as well.

This case of Rex's......I don't know if embossing would of made it any better. I think sometimes embossing looks cheesy and it's an art to use it in just the right way (which we always do of course). ;-)

I am really blown away by this case and keep coming back to it. Some amazing amazing art being put down on leather these days. I really hope people begin to truly appreciate what goes into this type of work. Not only from the decorative aspect but also the construction. This is tight work.

Marcus & Rex,

This case is absolutely stellar! The Spidey case is also a masterpiece, but since my better half, Rose, is a redhead, I think this one is my favorite. The tooling is very well done and adds a cool dimension to it, too.

Keep up the great work, Rex, and congrats on your new case, Marcus!

Best always,

Steve

Marcus, glad the case made it to you safely and I'm REALLY glad that you like it! :D

Thanks too for the good feedback everyone. It's definitely inspiring for me to keep on tooling away.

I guess you could call them 'boutique' cases. It's a lot of fun to be creative with the design and/or even really personal for the owner. I'm not sure about 'raising the bar' though. To quote Isaac Newton "If I have seen further it is only by standing on the shoulders of giants." I am extremely grateful for all the other casemakers and pioneers that I am constantly learning from. The bar is already pretty high.

JB: I'll be there! email me so we can figure out at least something fun =o]

REX,
I HAVE TO ASK....... ABOUT HOW MANY HOURS DO YOU HAVE INTO THE WORK ON THIS BEAUTY?

Marcus

THANKS REX, THIS IS BY FAR THE COOLEST CASE I HAVE EVER SEEN!!!

Moaalii Custom Cue Cases / CYREX HERE ON AZ

I'LL LET THE PICS DO MOST OF THE TALKING, BUT I HAVE TO SAY THAT THE INTRACACY OF THE TOOLING, AND THE DEPTH OF THE WORK IS BREATH TAKING IN PERSON. I CAN'T IMAGINE THE TIME AND DEDICATION THAT A CASE LIKE THIS INVOLVES.

This is one of the best cases, I have seen in a long time. You can't stop looking at the work and everytime you fire it up you find something else. Really it's that good. What I love about this case and others of the genre, is no computer is making this case. This is all about the hands and the talent that is in them. It's a feeling you don't, or shouldn't, get with CNC cues. You look at those cues and KNOW that it's a program, that if someone wanted to reverse engineer it, they could, not that they would, but they could. You don't have that with this case.
