I must agree totally. Earl is without question one of pool's greatest former champions, but there are a number of more suitable replacements for his spot. Regardless of the actions of the crowd, the players are representing their country and should act as such. The venue cannot control the actions of the crowd, but had this been an Olympic event or other prominent and sanctioned event, Earl would likely not be allowed to return. I definitely feel sorry for the crowd's treatment of Earl, but as a professional, he must not continue his tirades.

i think what you're seeing from the euro fans and fans in general is backlash for years of bad behavior.
i'm not condoning throwing things at anyone,but this behavior doesn't surprise me.their guys have ate this crap not only at mosconi cups but ipt events and others.earl has laid it out there time after time,now they're giving it back.
i'm with manwon,let this be earl's last mosconi event.

We have to remember that Pool is not golf. As much as I would like pool to reach the same level as golf, ITS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. Golf is a game of money, where rich people get to hang out on a beautiful gree golf course like Augusta National.
I personally loved the back and forth action between US and Europe. I think the best shot pool has of getting more media attention is if we had a few more players as colorful as Earl. Pool is more like poker. Look at Phil and Mike the Mouth, they make poker fun to watch.
PS. It made my day to see Earl win that match against Peach when everyone was against him. GO EARL!

yes, these analogies are way off base. Earl is not going to kill anyone or eat anybody. A better analogy would be John Mcenroe, brilliant on the playing field, a bit nuts, generally well like off the field. I don't condone Earl's actions when he is into his straight jacket persona and I don't think he should be picked again to represent the US, but I also don't condone what Peach did when he threw a pacifier from the stands. He should leave the soccer hooligan role to his fellow countrymen at a different venue and conduct himself with class like Johnny, Rodney, Corey, Shane, Ralf, Konstantin, and Niels did.

my point was you can't excuse earl's bad behavior just because someone knows him personally,and has had different experiences with him.everybody is liked by someone,even the worst ppl in history.those ppl had loving family members and friends that probably adored them,but wrong is wrong.
i have friends who are criminals,drug addicts,and annoying a$$holes.i get along with them,they treat me good but one someone says so and so is a a$$hole i know that person has the potential to be like that to some people so why argue the point.just because he's not like that with me doesn't change the facts.
it is what it is,earl is a problem not only for pool but for himself.sooner or later someones gonna drop the hammer on him,and it could end his career.

YO .... I dont care what nobody says... there is NO FREAKING WAY that Earl "didnt hear" Drago, as was said in previous post....dude was 6 ft from him screaming at the top of his lungs....

From what I saw on the video, after Souquet won the match, he went on and shakes hand with the audience and then went to Earl to shake his hand but Earl threw his hand away or slap his hand against Ralph? It was being blocked by somebody so it wasn't clear, and then people booed Earl and then somebody threw something towards Earl. Was that pacifier? If Earl accepted Ralph's hand with a little smile, would the scenario changed?
it was a bit embarrising the way he threw the dummy at earl. like somebody said he kind of threw it underarm as if he was scared of being caught.
in any case i think maybe what sparked earl a bit was that he had to stand there and wait five minutes till ralf shook his hand, whilst watching the europeans celebrating right under his nose rubbing it in. ralf really should have shook his hand first probably.
