The DELTA-13 rack, is it good? too expensive or worth the cost?

DELTA-13 is getting close to a "add-on" material for their racks that will greatly reduce the "clank" noise. They also know of the demand for other type racks, such as a snooker rack. F.Y.I.

Is there any concern...

about the rack marring the balls? Metal on plastic..... is there any wear showing up for those of you who have had them for some time? Just wondering.

Has anyone tried putting an insert onto the outside of the DELTA-13 rack to deaden the "clank" sound and if so, what material?

Which one's better guys? The pure cast (not CNC-milled!) "Delta-13" or the true CNC-milled "Delta-13 Elite"???????

i have a delta -13 elite that i just bought off of ebay. Gave 100.00 for it. It had someone else's engraving on it but i dont care about it. I bought mine from Tim at the Oyster Billiard Sanctuary. It is loud, and got a few complaints at the pool hall but the complaints stop once they rack with it. I have gotten good at racken though without causing too much noise. The old guys in the pool room still make it go CLANK, CLANK, CLANK. Very nice rack, worth every penny. Your not just paying for the rack either, your paying alot for the craftsmanship that went into making that rack. The owner is getting the cast versions for the tournament tables at the pool room now. old balls+old wood racks+humidity sucks

My sparing partner and fellow AZB'er Troyroy78 bought from Tim (Oyster Billiard Sanctuary). This thing really works properly.

Differences between Delta-13 and Delta-13 Elite

atthecat:

I only own the CNC-milled Delta-13 Elite, so unfortunately I can't give you a synopsis of the cast-aluminum Delta-13. But here's what can be found on Executive Billiards' website:

http://delta-13.com/quality.htm (the paragraphs on the left, the videos are good as well [especially the second one entitled, "Quality"])
http://delta-13.com/faq.htm (the very last FAQ)

I would think the precision on the Delta-13 Elite is much greater, since a CNC milling machine is accurate to as fine as a ten-thousandth of an inch (Executive Billiards sends you a CMM Certification Sheet with every Delta-13 Elite that contains that particular rack's measurement tolerances).

Whereas every single Delta-13 Elite has to go through a pass on the CMM, only a representative sampling of a batch run of Delta-13s do.

However, this level of accuracy can only be realized if the ball set is perfectly round and all the exact same size. Last I heard, Executive Billiards only guarantees a perfect rack using either of the rack products with Aramith Super Pro ball sets.

One important point, though, on eack rack's finish. The Delta-13 Elite is anodized aluminum, while the Delta-13 is powder-coated. Anodized aluminum cannot chip (the color molecules are embedded in the aluminum itself), whereas powder coat certainly *can* chip -- although it would have to take a heck of a whack to do it. If a chip in the powder coat appears on the inside surface of the Delta-13 (especially in the area of ball contact), the accuracy of the Delta-13 is FINITO -- finished. You can probably fill-in the chip with nail polish or something, but it will never be the same.

Unless your pool room uses (or you use on your own pool table) a perfect ball set, you probably won't realize any difference between the Delta-13 and Delta-13 Elite. But you'll certainly experience a difference between either of these products and your standard plastic or wooden rack, that's for sure!

Hope this is helpful!

P.S.: I don't work for (or are a representative for) Executive Billiards. Just a happy owner of their products. :)

Great rack simple but effective, much better than the other rubbish on the market

Bought a delta...... It gives the sardo the 5 out,and the snap.

I have both and STRONGLY disagree.

Nothing beats the Sardo, pure and simple, when it comes to getting the ultimatate tight rack.

However, I use the Delta when practicing because it is much faster. The one ball may float a little with the Delta and with the Sardo, it is NAILED in place. I repeat, there is no comparison. It is not even close.

I agree Wolf, the sardo is better but too much of a pain to use. I dont own a delta rack, but have used them at the predator tour. Its a good rack, but seriously noisy and expensive as hell.

If you guys want a great rack thats reasonably priced, this is it. Cheap, quiet, racks tight, and easy to lift once the balls are set. (And no, I am not affiliated with Dons rack.)

Hi,

Any of the DELTA-13 racks have a life-time guarantee.
The original company RJD machining Co., (a CNC milling company of alumimum) has been in business 22 years. The subsidiary company., Executive Billiards Co. started early in 2008.
Your price is discounted the maximum off the retail
cost of $69.95 for the DELTA-13 rack.
Regards,
Wayne

Hi Wayne,

Whats the warranty on the economical model and how long has this company been in business? AND what MY price?

Sean, thanks for all that info! It helped.

Somebody was talking about the Sardo Rack. I love it too, but I don't like the deep impressions in the cloth were the balls sit. That's the only thing I don't like.

I just received my Delta 13Elite and have to say it's well worth the money.
The noise doesn't bother me in the least. I would redcomend this rack highly.
