The end of my revo

How exactly did you modify the cue?

I knew a guy who jacked up the wheels on his truck to make it look "cool" and he was driving down the highway one day when the airbag activated. He got upset when the insurance company wouldn't cover it.

I've never used a revo - good old maple for me.

I play with the 12.9 on a road line butt. A few nights a go at home playing some sets against the ghost I had a shot where I come down hard with a stun shot. The carbon fiber right in the middle of my revo shattered. .

So this means the carbon fiber shattered basically in your bridge hand? Did you get cut? I could certainly understand getting cut from splintered carbon fiber in this case.

This certainly wouldn't have been caused by not replacing the tip properly.

I hope pics do get posted because I find this story hard to believe.

Not to defend OP, as I do find this story a bit hard to beleive, but I also don't see a reason he would lie... other then to say 500 dollars is nothing to him...

...but if it shattered near the end after he struck the ball with the stun shot, the tip would have already been a good bit away from his bridge hand unless his bridges super close to the ball...

So future advice Revo users: Closed bridge only, that support might be enough to hold it together.

I never said I didn't believe him.

I said the story is hard to believe.

Also, read again what he said happened: The carbon fiber right in the middle of my revo shattered.

If it shattered in the middle of the shaft, after a hard stun shot, the middle of the shaft would have been somewhere in or near his bridge (or at least go through his hand on the follow through).

With the side wall of the Revo being so thin, I would expect a failure would eventually occur like this photo.
This shaft, a Longoni S2, failed on a power draw shot, so all the force was on the very upper edge of the tip/ferrule/shaft.

Again, Trob, photos would be helpful into understanding the shaft technology. And could this be more than an isolated case, which lead to predator slowing down production???
Inquiring minds want to know.

Anyone else want to know more about the Longoni break here is the link....

He doesn’t want to talk about it any more. This thread isn’t about that. He doesn’t care about the $500.

We used to have a saying in the PR bizaness about big ta-dos that you'd plan for a client: Afterwards, if you ain't got photos/video of it... it never happened.

There's nothing wrong with asking for video, photos, or other documentation when it comes to crazy ca-ca, whether it's Niels running a bunch, or a shaft exploding like Elmer Fudd's shotgun after Bugs stuffs a carrot in it, or someone saying they tried a new aiming system and started making everything and farted rainbows.

Well, tonight I went to the pool hall and ran into my buddy who has two Revo shafts. I told him about this thread, that a Revo shattered near the bridge hand of a member while shooting a stun shot.

He said he had two 12.4 Revo's fail in the same spot, but in a different way. They had developed a tiny bit of a bulge or roughness in the bridge hand area. He could not see it, but could barely feel something was different.

He was using both shafts for breaking. He had replaced the tip with a phenolic/hybrid break tip. He talked to the predator rep, and they said to send the shaft back. Predator promptly sent him a brand new 12.4. He then changed the tip on the second 12.4 to the same hybrid, and broke again. It too, developed the same problem. He sent it back a second time, and they sent him a brand new one again. This time they sent the 12.9 though, since he wanted to use that hybrid tip again for breaking.

So, this account of events does two things:
1. It adds support for shaft failure in the same general area
2. It adds support that predator stands by their warranty, even for shafts modified with phenolic/hybrid tips and used for breaking.

I still want to see the picture though!!!! ha ha ha

Yeah, I know... I actually didn't notice that part. But, even so... a Cat, brandishing a Desert Eagle, riding a fire-breathing unicorn, bareback into battle...? It's gotta be timeless. 🤣

So i guess those 'exalted' Pred shafts aren't perfect after all.

My buddy with the 2 bulged shafts has since switched to the 11.8 revo for playing, and the revo break shaft for breaking. (There was no break shaft when this originally happened). He’s had no issues since.

I’ve not heard of any issues on a Revo shaft since this thread, either in person or online.

I think they’ve proven to be quite reliable since they came on the market in approx 2015/6.

just jackin with ya bro. you gotta admit for what they charge this stuff should not happen. most cf shafts aren't really designed for a constant diet of breaking UNLESS its a dedicated break shaft.

Yup. No issues since the early shafts.
