The end of my revo

Lol here comes the people saying I’m lying. I don’t care I’m not posting pics because I don’t care to. I was just posting my experience going back to a regular shaft. If you don’t believe me I’m not losing sleep over it. Maybe after a few days I’ll send some pics to predator and see what happens. It’s just $500 so in the grand scheme of life I don’t care lol.

Nobody accused you of lying.

Take a pic, post it up.

Come on man, the Revo is the hottest topic in the past two years. You break one, post about it, and think we are unreasonable in asking for pictures?

So before everyone goes crazy and flaming me if you love your revo that’s great! I’ve said on many posts when asked what is the best cue that’s a question with no answer and I always feel the members that start giving names of cues are the one’s that really don’t understand the game. You can certainly have a good discussion about what cue holds it’s value the best or cue maker who has the tightest inlays etc but playability is different to different people. One man’s magic wand is another mans dead tree branch... so here goes

I play with the 12.9 on a road line butt. A few nights a go at home playing some sets against the ghost I had a shot where I come down hard with a stun shot. The carbon fiber right in the middle of my revo shattered. I was stunned . It was a shot in 30 years playing with maple shafts I’ve shot 1000s of times and would never think anything of it. I have been playing with this shaft I think a year or more so emmediatly I was thinking I”m screwed. I can’t get another one Right a way (hard to find) and honestly I don’t think I want one. I’m fortunate that $500 isn’t that big a deal to me but I’m not paying it for something that just exploded like that. I know predator won’t replace it because I had a non predator rep put a tip on it because the victory tip it came with was terrible so the warranty is out the window and lets face it we all know predator isn’t the best at standing up to there warranty.

So the next time I played I got out my old 314/2 shaft with a soft tip that I can’t even remember what it is on it lol I was thinking all day at work that it was going to be a tough transition and I’m going to have to go through probobly days of playing average to poor until I get used to it. As I was shooting some warm up shots I thought that’s silly. How many matches and tournaments have I won playing with this shaft. 30 years of knowledge and stroke from hours and hours of practice doesn’t go a way because my carbon fiber shaft I only spent a year with is gone. It turns out I had no issues... none. I forgot how good a wood shaft felt. I liked how stiff the revo was but really forgot how little feel you get. It turns out it was dead to me and I just forgot how much in the last year of playing with the revo. I was running out and playing position just as good as I have been. Honestly I felt my position especially draw was easier simpley because I was getting more feed back from the shaft.

So no I won’t be buying another revo. Actually I’m a little irritated with predator right now and am looking at maybe getting a Mezz sneaky since I’ve heard so many good things about them. Just to reiterate IF YOU LOVE YOUR REVO THAT’S GREAT!! I’m not putting anyone who loves it down. If it feels good to you and gives you confidence and your playing great with it fantastic! To each his own but I’m back with my maple shaft and don’t see me going back anytime soon.

I won't usually read something that long, cause I'm just on a phone.

That was a great post.

Hype is hype. Who advertises the most, who owns the marketing, sells a lot of cues. They just aren't always that great of a cue.

I agree, it's your stick. It's what you have confidence in, whether it's $50 or $5000.

Lmao that's great.

Someone talked of their shaft delaminating twice?

You may not remember my mooch story, but I know you've been here long enough to have seen it, once if not twice.

4 years solid in my trunk in mid-Michigan, had the cue around ten now, still perfectly straight, still hits the same.

I know you'll sleep well but I don't understand how you can post something like this without a picture.

For the record, i didnt think you were lying. I only asked for pics to see the broken carbon fiber shaft.

When I shot archey (a lot) issue with carbon fiber shafts
( not aluminum core ones)
was twisting. That was what would separate the fibers.
Next one thing that caused failure was side contact.

I'm also interested in what the modifications were made to the shaft that have invalidated the warranty. I'd also like to know the approximate distance along the shaft the failure occurred, because someone on Facebook who cut open a broken Revo shaft found there is a metal plug about 15" from the tip. (I assume it is there to both add some weight and balance the mass of shaft although Predator make no mention of it on their website.)

Did I say I thought it should?

Why the link? Can't answer the question I guess.

I am not sure why you are being difficult...or why you are asking if I thought you said it was covered, when I asked if you thought it should be?

 This is the strangest thread I've read here on AZB since I've been browsing. lol!!

Considering the popularity of Revo shafts, I'm guessing that predator would want to know about this incident, so that they can address the problem with haste. Especially since its been made public.(albeit without pics)

I'm going to stop there ..... like I wrote - this is a strange thread.

Guys, I think I’m having a problem with AZ’s website.

I’m viewing this thread from my phone, and none of the images seem to be loading.

Is there an administrator or someone that I can contact about this?

That's a good post. I appreciate the read, but you should consider sending pictures to Predator. There is more involved than the $500. There is possibly a problem that they should be made aware of. If you just changed the tip, that's not really modified, if you remove the red and black pads, that's modified. If you change the joint, that's modified.

Honestly I haven’t contacted them yet but from past experiences from members and friends I don’t expect anything. I modified the cue and they are a big company now that doesn’t give that personal touch. It’s all a numbers game and that’s fine being in retail myself I know how people can be. I have people trying to get over on the company I work for every day. People who I feel are normally honest but when dealing with a large company they don’t feel it’s stealing.

You are foolish if you don't contact them at least.

Not too long ago there was a line of fake preds on ebay or something and people were buying them. Predator offered to replace the fake ones with real ones for a limited time.

They have a "limited" lifetime warranty on their site. If you don't want to switch back, that's fine, but if you can get it replaced a new one will sell pretty fast and for higher then retail.

I just bought a radial Revo 12.4 - slightly used off Ebay. I'm having the joint converted over to 3/8x11 to fit my Zylr. I understand that will void any warranty on the shaft. I would be interested in seeing some pictures of the Revo that failed during a stun shot.

To the OP - are you saying you are planning on posting some pics when you get around to it - or you have decided not to post the pics for some reason? Just curious if I should continue to follow this thread or not.

Thanks.

I plan on getting a revo shaft and having it converted to 5/16 14. A local guy by me has converted multiple successfully. I don't it will become my main shaft. Kinda want to get it just to mess around with it and have it for the novelty sake.

Come clean Trob, you have been working out at the gym again.

Who knows. Maybe something happened in the production process. Shit happens. It’s not what my post is really about. I still play predator. I just relized I prefer the hit of my 314/2.
