The FATBOY CHALLENGE TEN BALL

Corteza breaks for the win and almost made the 10 in the corner...

Even though a ball was pocketed, 1 ball is hiding behind the 4. Corteza pushes but cue ball is behind the 9. Ralf gives back the turn to Corteza and but after not being able to make anything happen other than a good hit on 1 Ralf is back on the table. Table is wide open with no problem with the layout. Ralf shoots combo for 7-10.

14-10 Corteza.

Ralf pounds the break but nothing on the break. 1 ball is haning in the pocket but 5 ball blocks it's path and Corteza kicks 1 in... Misses 2 ball badly. Ralf takes charge and pockets 2, 3, 4...and finishes the rack to trail 14-11.

Ralf breaks dry, open shot at one and no cluster... Corteza should be able to finish out the set here to win the 10G.

Ball by ball Corteza is nearing to win the First Fatboy 10 Ball Challenge at Derby City Classic.

But he misses 5 ball in the side which hits both picks and hides behind the 7. Ralf should be red hot! but not showing any emotions. Just circling the table looking for an opening...:(

Ralf fails to execute the safety on 5 and Corteza easily pockets it. Only 6 balls remaining to win Fatboy Challenge 10 Ball Champion!

SVB may very well be the man for that match.

On a side note how in the world is Earl and Johnny not there?

I would not be too sure about that. Did'nt Corteza just beat Shane badly in their match-up in this Fatboy mini tournament? And I believe he also beat SVB in a race to 25 match that was posted in youtube. Corteza is hot right now and he stands a good chance of beating SVB.

You know, sometimes a match win against the likes of Efren can just boost a player's level up another notch. Another match-up against Lee Van will be a good one.

Well now

I knew he could play, but didn't realize he had been beating on Shane. My chest just pumped out a bit. I played Lee Van in the 3rd round of Banks, he won the first game, and I win 3 in a row. Not that I'd go ask him to match up, but we all know pool is all about getting victories.

Thank watchez and thanks to everyone else involved, especially Fatboy for putting out one of the best field of players ever assembled! Probably one of the luckiest things to ever happen to me, first I almost got shut out by forgetting to sign in, then the waiting list, the roll of the dice and ending up with such a great player signing up last AND THEN watching him break from SIDE!

Good going, that's quite an accomplishment! Now just get that beating-up-on-SVB thing out of your mind and go woof at LeeVan.

My assessment of the finals. Ralf scratched on the break four times in the first half of the match. Then he missed four or five makeable balls in the second half of the match. He still had a chance to win. Lee Van got a couple of fortuitous rolls as well. He was blessed in this match and also his semi with Mika. Ralf played his only bad match of the tournament in the finals.

Lee Van is a great player, and deserves the win. He's a humble guy and a great money player. Ralf will continue to do what he does best, win tournaments.

I look for Shane to play Francisco next. That's the buzz around here. Big matches last night included T-Rex playing Rafael even up One Pocket for ten large. Cardone was playing Monster John for some serious cheese as well. I didn't hang, I was too tired. Ron Wiseman beat Gabe the night before for 10K, getting 9-7.

On to the One Pocket Challenge today. P.S. Johnny is here, he'll be playing in the 9-Ball.

If I'm gonna do any woofing at anyone, it will be the guys I'm sure I can beat, or at least be gambling with. That's why I have the same stakehorse for the last 14 years. I work for a living, and know what the rules are for matching up. Even with weight, my consistency ain't what it needs to be to play with those fella's. I'm capable of short spurts of good play, but thats about it.
Like Clint Eastwood said in one of his movies, "a man's gotta know his limitations".
