JA and I are close frends thats pretty widely known. We both happen to have wonderful spouses(well i'm not married but we have been together years and still havent had a argument). Johnny and Melonie(happy Mohthers Day!!!:)) have 2 beatiful kids who we have known for 2 1/2 years and we loved them the minute we met them.

Kelly and I have spent time with the kids at JA's house here in Vegas for 2 Mosconi Cups. We talk on the phone all the time, facebook. This last M-Cup Kelly spent 3 days all day with them Lee and Leeanne(opps this is a bad time for a spelling problem:sorry:sorry:) Kelly is with kids, like JA is with a cue, until you see it you just dont get it, They are gifted. She was a nanny for 10 years or something so that helps. But she has a natural way with kids, Melonie was amazed the first time, I was at their house in Alanta and Kelly was flying in, Melonie kept warning me being gracious. I said She will be like JA with a cue its magic. Sure enough after Kelly arrived Melonie saw what I was talking about. The love was there. I had seen Kelly with kids before I and knew thats going to be my kids mom someday.


Kelly and I dont have kids yet, when the time is right we will. I dont have any family but my uncle and aunt who are both real real old 86 and Kelly.


I get a call from JA 3 weeks ago, his voice is real real serious. It was either real good or real bad-I know him to well to know it wasnt normal JA. Ha said I have a question for you, he and Melonie discussed it for a long long time he continued. Would Kelly and I be God Partents to Leeanne? I teared up gathered my self and said sure. JA said thats not good enough, go talk it over with Kelly, think about it hard real hard like they did. So we did out of respect to the Archer Family Kelly and I did and accepted. I have never been so honored. He said "It dont cost nothing, dont you give me a penny", That would ruin everything. I been sending them B-Day presents, he said thats still cool.


I asked JA should we keep this private or public-its his decision as he is more well known than me 10000 fold. He said find the right time. He knows I'm well known here so I told him when I had the right words on the right day I would make the announcment.


Thanks to you Melonie and Johnny, Were honored to be Leannes God Parents and will fufill all responsibilitys and duties that come with accepting this great honor.

Well I guess I'm not manly cuz I teared up on that one. 35 and no kids here so I can imagine how honored I'd feel.
 
Congrats! It is amazing how friendship can bring people together so close. I wish the best for your family and theirs as well.

That's quite a compliment Eric. You have a special lady in Kelly and you know it. Don't worry, I'll stand up for you at the wedding! :)
Leanne is a lucky little girl to have you two in her corner - for life!

Johnny is super fine people in my book and in the handful of times I've been around him, he's gone out of his way to not only make me comfortable, but also just be a friend.

Eric.....will you adopt me as your son and let me have all the keys to the cars and a weekly allowance of $5,000 a week? Talk to Kelly seriously and think it over, no pressure. :wink:

I'll take the heat:wink:, JA has values like mine. I have known him for 24 years-but became close friends the past 3 years, and For him to ask me this caught me off guard. Because of how serious he is, I know one thing I made the commitment to him tha God forbid that JA and Mel cant for what ever reason tend to Leananne or Leebug we would be there like I was for my mom and dad-EVERYTHING took a back seat to them. We would be 100% dedicated to the kids, Leebug has God Parents but if they came short(unlikely) I would step up with pride and honor.


This is the best thing to happen to us(me more than Kelly) in a very very long time. And yeah I feel like bragging about it-not because its JA, to heck with pool and JA. The fact someone we know and love asked us to be put in one of the most trusted positions in life is huge. We would be just as thrilled if it is was Joe Schmoe, Who asked us dosent matter, its the fact that someone trusts and believes us that feels so good. I never been a best man at a wedding. Nothing like this ever has happened to me. There are alot of empty spaces in my life i tried to fill with $$$ and that dont work,.

Congratulations to you both. You have been requested to become members of another's family. It is a high honor and one not to be taken lightly. Return that honor by the quiet steadfastness that is the hallmark of loyal and dedicated Godparents, and enjoy the years that come.


P.S. I spend a great deal of my time around here trying to think of smart-ass things to say, but your story kind of got to me. I guess it was because it so nicely dovetailed into the holliday. But then again, maybe the Trampster is just geeting old. Who knows. Happy Mothers's Day, ladies.

I couldn't agree with you more. You can tell from reading Eric's post how much this means to him and Kelly. I have a daughter and a grandson and it means a lot to have them look up to me and for me to be a part of their lives.

bump, sorry, I wont bump it again. But after reading all posts and thinking about this man am I proud. I flew to N.Ca to visit my uncle who is 86 he looks much better than the last time I saw him, Fatboy is in a great mood-My uncle and his girl friend of 33 years(they ant get married cause of some legal thing) both looked good, Kelly came with me. So I had all 3 of my family in the same room at the same time it was cool-and now with being a God Father too, things are comming together.


Believe me having no family is a lonely life and no matter what toys you have, or how good you are at something pool, darts, basketball-none of that makes up for being alone. neither does peoples sympathy, infact their sympathey while it is well meant atually makes things harder. There just is no substitute for family, its probably more important to me because I dont have much than people who have alot. Same goes with other things, a gallon of water in the desert is alot of water in the rain forest its meaningless.


So in a effort to fill that void in my life I have compensated in other ways, some drink, others work. I chose to work.


for what ever reason im being very philosophical right now, my mind id very open, I'll spare those of you who read this far. Perhaps now someone may understand me better, not that thats important-it really isnt at all. No one has to understand me nor do I have to understand others, but it does make life a bit more intersting.
