The hip-hop young crowd

It sounds like you are simply in the minority when it comes to the volume level of the music in this paticular pool room.

PS: I try not to draw lines...i lost my ruler.
PSS: Open a new pool room and run it how you wish.
PSSS: Who are "they"

LOL, ok bomber ....salute to you, and to show you how nice a guy I am, I hope Hillary gets in for ya. :)

Thanks but no thanks...i am not looking for anyone's benefit of the doubt, but I appreciate the offer.

Bomber -------> still wondering who "they" are.

I see your question. However, as this thread began by talking about individuals who wear too big of clothes, I would assume that these are the people that "they" refers to. No other specification was given.

Oh, sorry, I thought I made that pretty clear.

They are the inconsiderate, rude, obnoxious, obscene people who listen to this garbage that uses the "F" word every 3 seconds, at inconsiderately high volumes in public places, and let me add driving down the street in their cars, and are hypnotized by it into thinking its ok to show everyone their belligerence as well as their undergarments. Exposing both the physical and verbal filth to everyone, including our impressionable children. None of which is limited BTW to a poolroom. That's who "they" are.

You think you've got it bad? Well I have to listen to this song when no one plays the jukebox. Over an over and over again. Its terrrrrrrrrible.

Dixie Chicks
Fly (1999)
Goodbye Earl

Mary Anne and Wanda were the best of friends
All through their high school days
Both members of the 4H Club
Both active in the FFA
After graduation Mary Anne went out lookin'
for a bright new world
Wanda looked all around this town
and all she found was Earl

Well it wasn't two weeks
after she got married that
Wanda started gettin' abused
She put on dark glasses and long sleeved blouses
And make-up to cover a bruise
Well she finally got the nerve to file for divorce
She let the law take it from there
But Earl walked right through that restraining order
And put her in intensive care

Right away Mary Anne flew in from Atalnta
On a red eye midnight flight
She held Wanda's hand as they
worked out a plan
And it didn't take long to decided

That Earl had to die
Goodbye Earl
Those black-eyed peas
They tasted all right to me Earl
You're feeling weak
Why don't you lay down
and sleep Earl
Ain't it dark
Wrapped up in that tarp Earl

The cops came to bring Earl in
They searched the house
high and low
Then they tipped their hats
and said 'Thank You ladies
if you hear from him let us know'

Well the weeks went by and
Spring turned to Summer
And Summer faded into Fall
And it turns out he was a missing person
who nobody missed al all

So the girls bouth some land
and a roadside stand
Out on Highway 109
They sell Tennessee ham
and strawberry jame
And they don't
lose any sleep at night 'cause

Earl had to die
Goodbye Earl
We need a break
Let's go out to the lake Earl
We'll pack a lunch
And stuff you in the trunk Earl
Well is that all right
Good Let's go for a ride
Earl hey

3andout,

Aw, how sweet. You were able to totally shift the arguement on us... I too am against people listening to music too loudly in their automobiles if breaks public safety laws.

I thought that we were having a reasonable discourse about a pool room environment. You decided to take the discussion outside the boundaries of the original line of thought, which involved the pool room. I made some comments about how I feel about the pool room situation and know you are trying to make me sound like a bad person...oh well...i can handle it.

Also, my original post to the forum did not have your name attatched to it. I never said "Hey 3andout, this one is for you." You addressed me first and I will reply to my liking...i am sorry that you do not like my side of the political spectrum...oh well, i can handle that too.

What I can't deal with is people who talk about my generation negatively when their generation was just as rebellious and "different" as mine. Get a clue sir...you and your generation...which ever it is...is just as bad as mine. And if you are part of my generation, then I have little or no respect for your line of thinking because you are the primary reason that "THEY" are so rebellious.

Sincerely,

A Rational Poster With Some Liberal Ideas
Sorry You Can't Handle it Politely Without Name Calling

We can't have poolrooms that only old men with sensitive ears like me want to be in and also have a growing interest in our game. I'm glad that there are places where young people can play pool and feel at home. If it's too loud for me, and it often is, you won't find me there. I might even complain about it, but I see a big difference between "I don't like it" and "it's wrong", or even "they should be tazered and arrested for it".

Also, folks in baggy clothes are dressing for their own peer group, not for yours. Did you choose you clothes by trying to imagine how they would affect the teenagers in the pool hall?

I am 21 years old. I listen to southern/classic rock. I wear cowboy boots. If ever a place is playing loud "hip hop" (whatever that phrase even means) I will leave. No problem with any idividual who prefers that music. I just don't like it.

I too listen to southern rock and classic rock and I too wear boots. Hell, I am from Western Kentucky...grew up the confluence of the Mississippi River and the Ohio River. Spent many a day bringing in trot lines and juggin' for cats in both rivers. However, I do not pretend to not know what Hip Hop means and I do not pretend to not understand that that genre of music is just as advanced as mine. Too me...that would show ignorance and narrow mindedness. Just my opinion.

Drew,
I'm wondering how this location can afford to stay open.
No food or beverages sales? Just vending machines and table time?
The owner must have negotiated one heck of a lease.

I've read this thread through and I thought I'll reply as I am 1000% part of the generation you are talking about...
I hope you don't mind if I write a few words about myself: I am 18 years old and I love music just as much as pool - the two things (along with girls of course but that's a different story) that can switch me perfectly OFF. When I'm listening to my favourite musics or when I'm down playing pool 8 or 9 in the morning on Saturdays (that's the only time I can go and play) I'm thinking about absolutely nothing but pool or just thinking about whatever I want while I'm listening to Indie (a kind of rock music to describe it..), or Drum&Bass or even Jazz (I love big-band, acid and bebop the most).
Sometimes I'm wearing a coat and look as elegant as I can (I love wearing elegant clothes) and sometimes I wear my pants under my rear end. It depends on where and who I am with.

As for pool and poolhalls: I've been playing pool since I was 15 and more seriously for the last 1.5 years... I love this game and I always show the biggest respect I can for all the players that are older (and therefore way more experienced) than me and I am always exceedingly thankful if any of them helps me with my game, tells me a little secret that they use or anything like that...
And whenever I get to a poolhall I do care about music - I love almost all kinds of music (9 out of ten at least) so it doesn't really matter what is on in the background... and as for the volume: it can set me up when I can't hear my own voice from the music... If I want loud music I'll go to a place where I can party, where I can shout as loud as I can, etc. but not in a poolhall...
...but here comes a little twist: let's imagine me, playing pool with some older (30 and 40+) friends of mine in a poolhall, my pants are low as hell - and I suppose that they think that it is ridicolous they understand it because they can think back that they were just ridicolous as I am now (I do NOT wish to imply with this and this is definitely not only for you, 3andstop, this is a fact) and the music is just too loud... If that would be the case than me and my low pants would go there to the counter and ask the person behind it to turn it down. After that I wouldn't care for all the youngsters that would come over to me, I'd say to them that: "Hey, I am just like you (I even look similar with these outrageous clothes) and if I want to listen LOUD music than I'd go to... (and I'd name a few places where they could party)"
That's it, despite of my (eventually) idiot-like clothing I love pool, I love and respect all the players that are certainly WAY better than me and I'll try to (and I do!) help everyone, who knows even less about the game than I do. What is more is that I am lucky enough to say that I have lots of friends from all the ages (ranging from 20 to 50+), they're very helpful and I'm again very lucky to say that they're: my friends. (despite of my look - eventhough I look very considerately in 99% of the times when I go to play pool).

That is my .02 for all this, I hope all of you understand me... Of course I am opened and ready to hear all kinds of suggestions regarding all that let that be positive or very negative.

Listen, first of all the tasering was a joke. (sort of) Secondly, if you people don't see anything wrong with loudly blaring out FU#$ this and FU#$ you and CAP his A$$ then you are as sick as they are and .... are merely a part of the degradation of our moral fiber.

As far as breaking the law, indecent exposure and obscene conduct is illegal, I don't care where it is.

Its a free country, we can all do what we like. The problem is when what you do becomes disturbing to others in a public environment.

The saddest part of all this is the fact that its not that you don't know its obscene, its that you think its cool and have no consideration for anyone around you. In or out of the poolroom. Including kids.

To think this is some conduct unique to a poolroom is ridiculous. This conduct in a poolroom is a CONTINUATION of what they consider normal or acceptable anywhere.

They pull into the parking spaces with the music blaring, they simply continue it in the poolroom.

Ha, you make it sound like there is some metamorphosis that occurs when entering a poolroom. There isn't, being inconsiderate and obnoxious is a full time job.

This is all very well and everyone should be able to listen to and do what they want so long as it is done with consideration for others.

I guess I'll quote myself since bomber apparently missed something. I should've quoted the entire thing, probably. I don't know how you came to think that I "don't understand that this genre of music is advanced as mine." It is more advanced than mine. There are more people (more people in my peer crowd) that listen to this genre of music than there are that listen to mine. As 3andstop put it, I don't like the "FU#$ this and FU#$ you and CAP his A$$" music, and I said nothing more than that.

3andout,

Our moral fibers just differ...i am simply more interested in individualism and freedom of choice than telling someone to stop saying or even blaring the f word. Keeping freedom of choice is way more important than taking our rights away. Of course is a continuation of what "they" do outside the pool room.

Let me let you in on a little secret...THE MUSIC IS BLARING BECAUSE "THEY" DONT WANT YOU IN THE POOL ROOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let me let you in on another little secret..."THEY" WEAR THEIR PANTS LIKE THAT TO PISS YOU OFF BECAUSE "THEY" DONT LIKE YOU AND WHAT YOU STAND FOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And the opinion that "THEY" have about what we represent is more important than the opinion that we have about what "THEY" represent?

What is the difference?
