Justin, Chad & crew,

Is it too early to ask if you guys are planning another match after the SVB vs CD match up? The final numbers of buys / DVD sales on this first match up will probably be amazing.

If you're interested in ideas for a possible match up (hint-hint;) ), how about contacting Shannon Daulton and Danny Harriman? Maybe an "all-around" match up could be worked out. For example, a race to 10 ahead in 9 ball, a race to 25 in short rack banks and a race to 20 in one pocket.

Those two are about the 2 best all around American players active right now.

Another great match up, albeit under the "grudge match" catagory, would be Earl Strickland vs Charlie Williams, 9 ball, race to 100.

Either way, I really hope you guys are planning, or at least will consider, more of these contests.

Thanks for what you're doing for pool.

There are going to be DVD sales?

I vote for some kind of one pocket match, big names like Scott Frost vs Cliff. Or Cliff vs. Tony Chohan... how would you bet that one?? Hell let's get Efren to play.

I wouldn't mind seeing Dennis Orcullo play the winner of the Shane vs Corey match. That would be something to watch! ;) :D :)

hilla_hilla's got a great idea.

I'll probably get flamed for this, but Charlie would be a terrible choice. He is unwatchable IMO. His repetetive get down on the shot, take 5 nervous practice strokes, get up from the shot, get down on the shot, take 5 panicky practice strokes, get up from the shot, get down on the shot, take 5 tenative practice strokes, get up from the shot...drives me insane. I have an accustats DVD with him on it and I had to turn it off within the first 2-3 games.

How about Charlie Williams vs. Danny Basavich in a race to 100. There is not enough tape in the world!

Mark,

I agree with your assessment of CW's style of play. I mentioned him vs Earl for the aspect that it really would be a classic grudge match. There's no love lost between them. I'm not that big a fan of CW myself, although I'm grateful that he's helping promote pool with the 10 ball and, even more importantly, the World 14.1 tournament.

I really hope we can all support The Action Report. If they take off like I'm hoping, pool's going to have a better future.

charlie's a damn good player though. i think he can just get bogged down within himself. when he speeds up a bit and gets a rythym going he's a very good player. excellent shotmaker and great break.

thank you

How about Jamie McWoofer vs. Jay Helfert?

Or McWoofer with open bank betting online and shooting the '9 out of 10 and the shape' -shot? TAR would get rake from all the bets :D

Anyway, seriously, this is great idea and we all really hope this will continue.

Orcullo, Van Van or some other philipino vs. winner of this match?

Winner "stays at the table" --> boxing type of Champion, and there will be challengers on the queue?

It would make it a TITLE, and way more prestigious than just a money/challenge match. What do you think? Don't you think it would make it even much more interesting? (not to say it is not that anyway ;))

Markus,

That's a great idea that I hope the men at Action Report would consider.
But, to be fair, since Ching Shun Yang beat Orcollo, Yang is really the top dog, as far as "money game king". So, maybe, Yang can be enticed to play against the winner of the SVB vs CD match. Maybe, who knows.

I like the idea that to be the champ, you got to beat the champ. However, if Yang declines to participate, then he's out of the running.

I really like this idea of keeping these challenge matches going. Who know, maybe someday, this format will really catch on with John Q. Public as well.
As long as we can keep Mitch Laurence from the booth :), I think this is really going to give a good surge to pools popularity. We diehard fans need to get the word out about what's happening here.
