The "pop up" in the main forum is going a bit far!

It's Still There.......

I'm running several pop-up blockers and it still pops up for a few seconds. I find it annoying too but I wasn't planning to b!tch about it, I'll do my complaining with my wallet. I don't buy from people whose advertising annoys me.

Hu

I agree 100%.......Hit em where it Hurts.........The Wallet
It annoys the hell out of me. Those of you that don't mind this 1 pop-up should because it always starts with 1, then 2, then 3, and you know the rest.

I thiink it's ok

I really hope that someone has hacked into the AZ computer system and set up this pop up and that it is not a spot that was sold. I think it's probably the most annoying thing that you could ever do to a forum, especially since it pops up every time you go back to the forums. What gives?

Doug

I might even buy one.:dance::yeah:

Oh my gawd..I saw a pop-up! Boo hoo hoo! Waah waaah waah!

Man oh man, grow up and grow a set! Some of you guys sound like a bunch of whiny little bit*hes! Bunch of cry baby wuzzies.

Really what the hell is the big deal? You don't like pop-ups? Fine, turn on your pop-up blockers. Don't have a pop-up blocker? Get one.

Anyone who defends something as annoying as pop-ups and uses ignorant vulgarity towards members who have a legitimate complaint, is a person I stop taking seriously and discredit any future things they have to say. Not that I did before considering the company you keep on NPR, but I digress.:grin-square:

nothing in firefox or IE for me. If the owner DID decide to put in a popup, he should reconsider. If it's a product people want, they just need to see it, which can be accomplished with a little 80 pixel banner at the top. Don't have to beat anyone over the head with it.

Personally, I won't buy anything if the advertising irritates me, even if it's a product I might like.

What he said! I run 3 different pop up filters and it still pops up. Is this a advertising that AZ has OK'd. I HOPE NOT, THAT WOULD BE BU#L SH#T.

its a pop up that goes away all by itself in like 3 to 5 seconds. hard to believe anyone would be bothered by this.

Take it easy guys. This site has more info than anything else on the net for FREE. If I have to put up with a popup when I see the main menu, big deal.

Take it easy my ass. You may surf this forum for free but I pay for it. I don't want any ads popping up like that. You people that don't pay really don't have much to complain about but I strongly suggest that those of us that do pay get together and request a stop being put to this. It's really really annoying.
MULLY

forget it, I went into Firefox and killed it. I don't care anymore.

Thank you dear chap! BTW, up until the present time your elevation to master of forum etiquette had simply eluded me.

Being a mere vulgar commoner, and lacking in all the arts and graces reserved for the blue blooded nobility, I am unable to give two bowel movements in regards to your opinion of me. This, as you may imagine distresses me to no end. And therefore, I beg my lord's understanding and indulgence in the matter of this most sinful and immoral conduct as I am truly sorry to have inflicted the slightest harm to your delicate sensibilities.:kma:

BTW here is the definition of wuss. (Gee, I wonder who that reminds me of?) :

wuss (wo̵os)
noun

Slang a person regarded as weak, ineffectual, overly sensitive, etc.; wimp
also wussy wuss′y

actually I did see it for a microsecond and then it was gone and I haven't seen it any in the other 1500 times I have clicked on something at AZ so far today.

Here's the deal. Web advertising is changing, but nobody knows where it is going. AZB is experimenting with different ad formats. The banner ads you see every day were complained about loudly when they first came out, now are accepted.

We NEED to find advertising methods that work for our advertisers or we go away. It's that simple. So we experiment. Now, we certainly don't want to piss off the readers. So, give us your ideas. What forms of ads will both be effective (meaning you see and read them) and yet are not intrusive?

The new ad you see now is set to come up only once per sign-in and only when you transfer from the main page to the forum page. It only stays up a few seconds, long enough for the menu to load in the background behind the ad. So it costs you no time, it only has you see it instead of the menu loading. And you only see it once per sign-in. That seems pretty unobtrusive to me, but we want to hear more from you.

We are an advertising vehicle. Fact of life. So how do we advertise to you in ways that will make you support our advertisers the way the sponsors of other sports are supported by the fans?

The ad you are now seeing for 3 seconds is the same full-page ad that you see in Billiards Digest or any of the other magazines. I am curious why many of you find it offensive here but do not fly into a rage when you find it in your magazine. After all, you are paying for the magazine, AZB is free, and yet you accept the support of the ad in the magazine but not here. Help us out here, guys. Do you want to pay us magazine subscription rates and have less advertising or keep the site free and see ads?

For all you guys that don't see it or have only seen it once.
Close your browser and clear all info including your cookies.

It popped up once when i logged on yesterday, and didn't pop back up all day till i shut down and cleared my browsing info and deleted the cookies, and then it popped back up when i logged back in.

As long as it removes itself, who cares.
But if it ever turns into something that i have to x out that is trying to trick me into clicking it? Bye bye AZ.

It did not bother me... Just because the ad is billiard related. If it was non-billiard related than it would bug the hell out of me.
Anyway, good thread Doug. I think it is importanto hear what other people have to say.

Let me tell you I thought I caught a damn virus at first til I realized it was a pool cue. That thing is huge and way way over the top.

Rep and I totally agree, that thing needs to go back from wherever it came.

it only comes up when you click on the azbilliards main page button at the top.

I really like the new black pred cue, but the pop up is waaay too much:mad:
