11 years ago when I bought my house I had an 8 foot Olhausen installed in the basement thinking it would be fine to practice and play on.... I was dead wrong for me... I grew up on 9footers and 8overs.... The 8 footer was like a bartable... Even shimmed to under 4 and 1/2 it was like shooting fish in a barrel and using it for practice seemed to hurt my precision more than helping anything else....

The Olhausen became a laundry table and up until 4 months ago when they closed the only pool room with decent equipment the simonis on it was 10 years old with likely less than 10 hours of play on it...... It has a few hundred now but it still is a toy table....

3 years ago when the economy tanked I started looking for a good buy on a table... I have made trips to look at tables a few hours from home on several occasions and never found anything... I missed the $1000 9 ft diamond on craigslist... I missed the $105 9ft GC in SC 2 weeks ago... The anniversary I found in Chattanooga was an 8over... The GC1 I found across town was an 8over....

On and On and On... With me looking every week or 2 to see what was around...

Saturday I saw a listing for an Old Brunswick on Craigslist.... 20 miles from me... Said it was an anniversary and it was priced right in my ball park......

I emailed and never heard anything.. The listing had been up for 6 days so I figured I had missed again......

Sunday afternoon I got "The" call.... The table was still for sale....

Tonight I feel like I have been beaten with a bat from head to toe... But I am smiling because in my basement disassembled.... is a 9ft Brunswick....

Here are the pictures.....

I am the proud owner of a 9ft Brunswick Moderne!! It is not the Anniversary....... Will put up pics as I go thru the setup and minor work that it needs over the winter....

It's a beast and I used up a few friend favors to get it moved tonight... I may not be able to walk tomorrow.... I spent money I didn't need to.... But I just can't wipe this smile off my face......

congrats on your purchase.

a pool hall in town closed last month and had 7 for sale. they were all sold before i could come up with the money to buy one.

Just knowing how thrilled you are put a smile on my face.

The thing I can't figure out is you have such a nice big space for a table there - how did you ever talk yourself into settling for an 8 footer???

It's in his basement disassembled so the photos are where it came from.

I'm guessing this was a steal. How much?

Oops - thanks.

I'm still surprised though. He didn't say he had to take a wall down to fit it. I've read several of his posts and I have a good idea of how well he plays. So I was just a bit suprised that someone that plays his speed would have settled for an 8 footer.

I have a pole right in the middle of my man cave and instead of pulling the pole and throwing up a lam beam I opted to go with a smaller table..... The pole's days are now numbered.... The process is simple and cheap and I have done it before but I hate doing drywall and the pole goes up into a drywall chase that holds my ductwork... The whole 16 foot chase is going to have to come down

I know many threads have came up on the topic and I am going to do a video/photo diary of the whole DIY process in my cave from the floor staining and beam replacement to the table refinish, modification and setup...

The only thing I do not like about the table is that the slates have been ground at the pockets to make it play easier. I know where a brand new set of slates are 45 minutes from me so I may opt to replace the slates and use a better anchor...

Chris, I was worried at first when I saw the pictures. I was afraid you had set it up already and used that godawful red cloth! As I told you on the phone, I had one of those many years ago. Great table actually! I kinda like the way the legs are on those better than the Anniversaries. Get it set-up with Simonis and give Billy a good thumping. Maybe that will shut him up for 30 seconds or so. Congrats on a great find!

Mighty Fine

Congratulations on a very nice looking table.

This Moderne model reminds me a lot of the Anniversary model. Close cousins?

Best wishes with your project to accommodate this cool looking table.

Take care

Please do post pics of the DIY process. I'm buying a house that has a nice basement. When I remove a wall, I'll have a mancave that's about 20x30 feet. I can't wait!
By the way, just saw a 4-leg 9-foot Arcade in primo condition posted for $400. That's no typo. I missed it, though. Grrrr.

Ohh man... The legs on the Arcade are my favorites on the old T-railers.... Keep looking tho.... I almost had given up... I am staring the floor prep this weekend and will start a picture thread after the weekend for the entire project....

Sherm thanks for the info when I called you the other day... I fully intend to put a hurt on Billy just as soon as I get everything ship shape... When she is finished she will be TV blue... Billy wants to bleach the skirts and legs but I think someone just put some stain over them and they weren't bleached mahogany from the factory....

I think this was how she looked before they darkened the legs and sideskirts... They came both ways from the factory
