As a member of The RackStarz, I would like to thank Jerry Forsyth & Mike Howerton for taking the time to interview RackStarz founders Gail Glazebrook & Larry Busacca on Runout Radio. Since there has been some recent press about our upcoming calendar launch party, some of you may be wondering what the group is all about, and Gail & Larry have done a great job of explaining that in the interview. If you haven't heard it yet, here's the link to listen to it on Runout Radio: www.runoutradio.com

One of our main goals as a group is to bring the sport of pool and its players to a larger audience; the greater general public. While the readers & members of AZbilliards are some of the most highly-educated people on the planet in terms of pool knowledge, the average person you talk to on the street can't tell you who won the 2011 US Open… and that's pretty unfortunate, if you ask me.

Being based in New York City, with the majority of the members being located in NYC, The RackStarz are in a unique position... We have access to some of the most powerful media outlets and producers on the planet, and we are now utilizing those outlets to make a big push to be sure the players and the sport get seen on a much bigger level than in the past.

While some who are not familiar with the players in RackStarz may make their first impressions based on our looks, the women involved in this group are also some of the most hard-working people in the pool world. Just a few examples… Gail Glazebrook works tirelessly on the staff of both the Predator Tour and is part-owner of the NAPL Pool League with Tony Robles, while Liz Ford is also an APA league owner in Vermont, while also playing on the WPBA.

Another one of the RackStarz founders, Jennifer Barretta, puts an incredible amount of time into public & charity appearances, all of which bring more positive exposure for the sport, on top of competing on tour. Likewise, all of the other RackStarz members do their part to promote the sport, while also continually competing and improving their game.

Although we may be taking some risks in this endeavor, we have chosen this as our time to work to move the sport forward. While we may be putting ourselves out on a limb, we have no time to look back at the mistakes of the past, or be fearful of what the future holds if we don't act! We are instead choosing the path of doing the best we can to improve the future of the sport and our careers as players.

Today, we have launched our first limited-edition 2012 calendar on the website, www.TheRackStarz.com, available for sale now… a project which has been in the making for over two years. A portion of the proceeds of the calendar will go to the RackStarz animal charity "Animals Behind The 8-Ball" - www.therackstarz.com/about.htm

We will also be holding a launch party to introduce the calendar on Friday, November 18 at Amsterdam Billiards. This event will give people a chance to meet & greet the players, and we welcome you to attend! RSVP to: Contact@W2publicrelations.com

In the future, RackStarz will be posting via 'Rackstarz', our official account on AZbilliards.

While this calendar marks the official launch of The RackStarz, it is only the beginning of our efforts as a group to branch out and promote the sport in new & exciting ways.

Thank you for taking the time to read this letter, and we hope to see many of you at the launch party!

My best,

Alison Fischer

Very nicely written, thanks. I'm in for a calendar to support the cause. Say hi to my fellow squared, Gail.

I look forward to watching (and working with) the Rack Starz.

I think it has the potential to open a few doors for the industry we all love.

Good Luck! Let me know if we can help.

Very nicely written. This type of well thought out and communicated letter gives more credence and respect to what you are doing. I hope it is very successful and your efforts help the game of pool and push each of you forward in your own personal endeavors.

Mark, you definitely hit it on the head! We are not only working towards gaining more positive exposure for the sport and the players, but in turn hopefully opening more doors for the industry.

Bringing new eyes to the world of pool and showing more people how to identify with the players and the game is critical in moving pool forward, and this can really only be done through mainstream media exposure. I believe we are hot on that trail right now.

Thanks to everyone for your words of support and encouragement.

Alison

Good luck girls! You are all amazing women and I am excited to see what you gals will be able to do. For anyone that hasn't visited their website I would encourage you to check out their profiles and to learn about the background of the women. This is a very diverse group of accomplished (both in pool and in the business world), well educated women that will be great spokesmodels for our sport.

Sounds wonderful. I wish you all the best success!

Despite my decades around women's pool, sometimes in official capacities, I need to admit that, in my youth, I was uncertain concerning the value that women might add to pool. The only thing I was sure of was that they might well help elevate the game and deserved every opportunity to do so. Thirty years later, I've seen the value they have added and can still add to our game.

Wishing the Rackstarz ladies, most of whom I am pleased to count as friends, every possible success. You are all a credit to our sport in New York and beyond.
