For years the National League used to win the all star game
Then for years the American league won

Now pool pundits want to explain things, show their total
lack of loyalty and criticize people who played

If these critics know so much why don't they play better?

No one can explain it,it just happens

perhaps next year

ask any good Cub fan
they will be an example to us all
love your cubs, pay to get in Wrigly, take your beatings

and suddenly its 2016,1908 doesn't seem so long any more

Ernie Banks,Ryne Sandberg,Billy Williams, Ron Santo,Greg Mattux ,Andre Dawson,Mark Grace Ferguson Jenkins never won the series for the Cubs

But i don't remember the fans complaining about the players
but the fans stayed true

At least the Cubs had some good teams with the players you listed. In the Mosconi we're not only getting beat but embarrassed. In the last 5 MC's the U.S. has won 21 matches and 7 of those were in one year. I think fans would be more positive if we weren't getting our asses handed to us every year.

Well said.

TO EVERYONE:

Thing is, what were the Europeans thinking when we were beating their asses at the beginning of the MC events (a.k.a. the "early years")?

Our players knew the "moves" of 9-ball so much better back then,
that our outplaying them WAS embarrassing to the Europeans.

So what happened? Did the Europeans start complaining? Maybe. Did they give up? No.
They obviously learned the game and improved.

I think we should start improving or simply give up.
At the least, we certainly should quit complaining.

It's easy to explain, they have a far better team - it's not rocket science.

All the rah, rah, USA USA in the world isn't gonna help.

Lmao at blaming the fans - now we're really getting creative.

whether the players are great or not
i don't approve of knocking them

i don't really like to be around crying whining critics

if hey knew so much they could up and play

i don't see any challenging SVB

So we all hold hands and praise another annihilation at the hands of the Europeans? Give everyone a shiny gold star for turning up?

Or how about actually doing something to start bridging the gap to the superior European players?

Bluto: Hey! What's all this laying around stuff? Why are you all still laying around here for?
Stork: What the hell are we supposed to do, ya moron? We're all expelled. There's nothing to fight for anymore.
D-Day: [to Bluto] Let it go. War's over, man. Wormer dropped the big one.
Bluto: What? Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!!

It seems to me we are losing our training grounds (pool halls) and replaced by bar room leagues. What results should we expect?

Ya hit the nail on the head. Not only is the European team better, the Asians and Philippines' teams could derail the American's as well, IMO. When SVB missed that straight in shot and handed Jayson that point it was obvious the team was completely and utterly done. We actually lost it on the first day just like the year before.. All the excuses, blaming equipment, the fans, short races and whatever is just Sore Loser Syndrome!!!!

If our players had the mindset of this young man, their lives and game would also fall into place. SVB seems to have figured this out, as did Efren.

Johann Chua....

''I hope that you will not treat billiards as just a cash cow of sort.
You didn’t start playing or dreamed of becoming a champion because of money!
The sport isn’t just about money. It is definitely more than that!”

One things for sure, the American pool player attitude is definitely not wired this way.

Yeah-If we could only get a coach-like a Navy Seal or a proven European or long time instructor, to change our mindset, we'd win going away!!

I think what Dean is saying is in other sports, the fans don’t sit around and bad mouth the players. In defeat, or in victory, if you support a team, you support them.

I agree

Everyone should offer words of encouragement. If someone really thinks it because 9’ tables and pool rooms are disappearing, then don’t complain about it. Help find an answer or open a new pool room.

Everyone should remember, pool is a game. Mosconi Cup is a made for tv special event. MatchRoom should be commended for creating such an exciting event. But it is a game!!!

To be disrespectful to the players (win or lose) is counter productive. Many games are won or list on confidence. With all the negative posts made by unhappy spectators, players become unsure of themselves because of the bashing they will take publicly.

That’s my opinion and I think everyone should be realistic, but be respectful.

Well said Mark. I have been supporting team USA for years and have watched their disappointment when we lose. The last thing I would ever do is criticize them, Matchroom, the coaches or the process. No one wants to see the Americans succeed more than myself but I feel like to criticize will do nothing but push the game closer to extinction in this country.

When I come up with a solution that will make a difference then it is time to throw out my thoughts.

Let's relax the expectations a bit on the fan side.
I envision next years team to have perfect sportsmanship. Always be punctual and well groomed. Maybe have matching socks and shoes. Try keeping the breath mints handy as well.

Try to remember that a frown can turn people away, so smile and the world smiles back at you.

Always remember that fan behaviour can affect play as well as the status of pool's future, so keep a chin up regardless of outcome.

Fans badmouth their team and players all the time in every sport, this is fantasy stuff he's talking.

I grew up with the Cubs and in Cubs territory and if he doesn't think the fans badmouthed them he's sadly mistaken. It happens with every team everywhere.
