Shane, I want you to know I'm proud of you and I love you! And always remember, be good, I may not be able to ground you anymore, but there may be a slim chance I could dust off my cue and spank you. :)

Love,
Your Mother

I loved my mom more than anyone in the world, reading this post hits me hard. I would give up everything I own to have 24 hours with my mom. Forget pool, $$$, business everything for me making my parents happy/proud thats what drove me everyday, nothing in the world made me feel better than pleasing my parents. Some people live for their kids, spouse, etc. For me it was my mom and dad. They are gone now and I'll never be the same or as happy as when I had them. I'm an only child-its a lonely world. I have had success like Shane but in a different world and at the end of the day thats not what matters its all about making your parents happy, Shane did it, man I'm getting all tears now. congrats to SVB's mom too!!! she is a champion first!!!! Any woman can give birth to a champion pool player, but it takes a special lady to give brith to a champion in life and Shane is that-aside from pool.

Shane`s mom was an excellant player in her time and loved action. She was pro caliber but for reasons not known to me she did not opt to be in the pro tour.Shane`s aunt was also a procaliber player.many years ago I saw shane`s entire family( grandma and grandpa, aunt, mom) playing pool in riviera tournaments-VNEA,BCA etc.

Nice to see another 'mom' here. (Although there may be others that I don't know of - by the forum names)
Congratulations to Shane! I can understand why you're proud of him. :)

A little story about Shane----I hope I don't embarass him.

When Shane was little he was alway a good kid. The worse things Shane ever did was tease his sisters or tape up my cats whiskers to irritate me. Shane started going to my parents pool hall when he was just 2 years old. As he was growing up I tried to stay away from his pool game because I wanted him to play for himself and I knew I would be too critical on him.
When Shane was about 9 years-old our women's league was playing at the pool hall. Shane was playing across the room on a 9-ft. When I looked over Shane's playing some guy and while the guy is shooting Shane's dancing in front of the pocket. He saw me watching, I gave him "the look" and he went and sat down. Awhile later, I looked and there's Shane doing his little dance again. This time I went over and told him to "knock it off". Finally, again, Shane's pullin his little stunt. I was mad, so I stomped over and told him to rack 'em. Shane's eyes were as big as saucers. We--I was playing 9-ball, and with every shot I gave him "the look". When the 9-ball hit the back of the pocket, Shane ran to the bathroom. Shane was in tears and he told me that he is not suppose to lose. I told him," you don't cheat to win, and if you can't lose then you will never learn how to win". Shane went back to his table and sat nicely after that. That was Shane's best spanking. And by the look in his eyes, one of the most painful ones.

I can see Shane's face when he reads this, with that sheepish little grin and rolling his eyes, as if to say "oh mom".

Keep the stories coming, its always fun to read about the progress of a champion. There is noone who would have more stories than his mother. Thanks for you contribution.

One more quick one ------ Shane and his "gambling"

When Shane was 6, his sister was 3, I took the two of them with me to Vegas for the Valley tourn. Twelve hundred miles, me and them in the back seat. Fun! When we got there I left them with my mother and I went down to the practice room to gamble. The next morning Shane got up and started watching the "gaming" channel for the hotel. The channel that explains how to play all the games, black jack, bacarat, keno,.... I was sleeping and didn't know Shane was doing his sponge thing with all the information. That afternoon we went down to the restaurant to eat. Of course, Shane grabs his keno ticket fills out and orders me to "give the lady a dollar". I don't know how much money he cost me in Keno that year. He was hooked! It was always quit amusing to people sitting around us. He was so cute, the little Keno player.
That year people got a glimpse of what he could do on a pool table. Nobody took him too serious, he already had a stroke though.

Wow! Its not too often you get choked up in a pool thread. I played Shane some in Vegas a few years back. He is a class act guy. I remember thinking, "You can just see the passion and determination oozing off this kid!"

I had the pleasure a couple of years ago meeting Shane through Kieth Mc. at the SBE. We hung out for a lil bit while he was playin a lilttle 20 a game. Great kid and not to many knew of him quite yet. All I remember was Kieth telling me, "WATCH OUT FOR THIS KID".

Well geuss what !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All the best,
Frankie
