I think it would be great to have the players with the top 4 highest votes have a little mini tourney to get the final seed...player with highest number plays player with lowest number & 2nd & 3rd play with both winners playing a final match for the spot.It would mean alot more than just who is the most popular inwhich it would be that much sweeter for whoever won it...Wouldn't that make a great TAR event ? That way the fans would still be involved but ultimately it will be the players sticks that do the talking !

I start this thread the other day & it gets burried...somebody else makes the same post practically & already got multiple replys...starting to feel like the red headed step child:banghead:..lol
 
Dennis would just steam roll them all anyways, so why not just save them all some time and vote for him :grin:

In all fairness I didn't read your post. If I had I wouldn't have started a new one. I just got sick of reading why we should vote for certain people. Let them prove it. I know all of them are champions but I feel like this would be the best way to pick a winner while throwing popularity out the window. But I do like the way you think.

I'm just clowning..just got back from a long run & was just messing around...I just think & it seems like alot of others feel there could be a better way...I mean..somebody could just use some kind of Bot program and make sure a player gets in..A battle of the cues & there wouldn't be any gray area.

I agree..It won't happen,but I definitely think it's a better way to determine who wants it.

That is a great idea! It may be too late for this year, but maybe MatchRoom will get wind of your idea and T.A.R. will arrange for the matches to take place.

The more I think about your idea, the better it sounds. Good one!

Not to be rude, but this doesn't make any sense to me.

Two positions are already chosen based on how well people are playing (picked from the points list). How is this any different? All you're doing is adding luck into the equation, as it's easier to win one mini 4-player tourney then it does to perform well all year. If it were based on skill, they'd just pick the top 3 players in the points list, rather then the top 2.

Besides, players dont have time and money to travel to play a 4-man tournament.

Also, the whole idea of the 5th player is to pick based on public choice. It's to keep the fans interested, and not to produce the best possible team.

Don't get me wrong, I see what you're saying, but I just feel its illogical.

The fans would still decide who the final 4 would be...If it was really a no corrupt non bias fan based & picked system then i say great..why not...But I know enough about reality to know that..that aint how our society works...Do you not think there are Bot type programs that can vote a certain player 100's of thousands of time ? we as a public will and would never know if the actual player chosen is actually the people's choice...But If someone won a mini-tournement then who could argue ?

You're definitely right about the corrupt aspect.

To make matters worse, even if the system were NOT corrupt, the voting would fail to select the most popular player. Instead the player who has the greatest online presence (Facebook/Myspace/etc) would win.

Some players just aren't into computers. The likeliness of them being voted in should not depend on such things :(
