I have been thinking about posting this for some time now. I tend to browse through this section daily either looking for good deals on cues, cases, instructional articles, etc. or just to see some uniquely design cues and cases. With more and more traffic in this section, it's becoming more and more time consuming sifting through threads looking for something I might like to buy. This becomes more difficult when sellers post cues, cases, dvd matches, etc. all in one thread. Sometimes I tend to miss something and when I do see it, it's already sold.

My question to everyone here is, would you like to see sub-categories under this section? My thoughts are something like this.

For Sale:
--Cues
--Cases
--Instructional (dvd's, vhs, books, etc.)
--Pool Tables & Table Parts/Accessories
--Pool Cue Accessories

Wanted to Buy:
--Cues
--Cases
--Instructional (dvd's, vhs, books, etc.)
--Pool Tables & Table Parts/Accessories
--Pool Cue Accessories

Problem is you'd have to scroll through 10 different sections, when infact there are only 30-40 new threads a day. I'd rather spend 30 seconds surfing through one and cover it all.

That is a good point. One of the problems lies in sellers or their friends bumping their items like mad and moving an item just listed several pages down forcing that person to bump their item to the top. With sub-categories, this problem gets minimized a little.

Maybe bumps should be forbidden!? Only when price is changing...

Hmm, you're on to something. I think Bumps are OK, just not from the OP/Seller.

There was a recent thread where out of 13 total responses, 10 were from the OP. Since said OP is supposed to be a MOD on some other (inferior) board, he should know better. That's the Forum equivalent of SPAM.

Remember the flake trying to sell high school shop class-caliber plans to build your own table?? Countless dozens of bumps. Just more SPAM.

But this is also extremely difficult to police, administer and enforce, which is why I Voted "Leave it Alone". This is kinda like our legal system - may not be perfect, but it's the best.

I think it is good enough. Having lots of sub-catagories is a good idea if there were thousands and thousands of items, but for the time being, it's working well imo.

Keep it the way it is.

Like my grandfather used to say, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!!!" Are there problems with bumps, spam, etc? Yes, but I do not mind wading through the BS to see good deals. If it is too much "work" for somebody, then maybe their time is just worth more than mine. Or maybe they just have very little time in their schedule to go through the process, and can't be bothered. Either way, forums can have their pros and cons, it is built into the system. The question is whether you see the pros outweighing the cons that makes you decide to go through this forum. I feel that it is worth MY time to deal with the BS, because I might find a DEAL or a trade that interestes me. I say BUMP all you want, it is the nature of the beast. Can't tame a beast, can't cage a beast. You either deal with it, or stay away from it. I don't mind going a few rounds with the beast, but when it gets to be too much, then I will flee. I do not need anymore cubicles here at AZ, got enough of them at work as it is.

I vote - IT AIN'T BROKE!!!

PS - Don't we have a particular posting section on this AZ forum for questions like these?????

Just call me the squeaky wheel
As you can tell - work was just grand today!

I personally think it functions well the way it is also. I have no problem scrolling through a few posts daily to see what is new on the board.

That being said, I would not be completely against sub-sections as long as there weren't many. 3 sections would probably cover everything- Cues for sale, Cases for sale, and Other Billiard related items. If someone wanted to post a WTB they could do so in any of the subs.

If you could find a way to list anything I am not interested in away in a sub catagory that would be great! :D J.K.

I think you have a pretty great buy / sell forum here just the way it is!

Many other forum sites (not pool related) have 3 sections:

Selling
Want to Buy
Want to Trade

I think it works very well. But once again I don't mind scrolling through the 30 updates per day.

I think this section is excellent and should stay the way it is. As long as there is a price listed, complete specs, and good pictures, the Wanted/For Sale section on AZ is a great service to all persons interested in pool-related gear.

Maybe like keep it to a limit, like 1 bump a day or every 2 days, whichever the moderator likes.

Maybe, there could be 3 sections with regards to cue pricing instead. Like Below 900, 900 and above, and the even more expensive ones, like 1500 onwards. Just a suggestion if there were to be changes, but if you ask me, it's fine the way it is.

Just me 2 cts.

I like it the way it is.
I scroll until I see something interesting and click on it.

I like the Bumps, cause sometimes I don't have time to get to the second or third page.
