Shannon, good to see you post. I am your Josswest buddy from the DCC that is always at the Cornerstone cue booth. I talk to Mr. Stroud about once a week. He tells me both your cue and mine are both in progress. I can't wait and I'm sure you can't either. I will be heading to Valley Forge in a couple of weeks and will again be helping Bill Grassley with his booth. I would like to see you make it. Mr. Stroud is planning on attending and it would be great if you could join us for dinner one night.

Hey Richmond Va has got to be knocking on that 300 mile mark..i am sure that several players here in Richmond would be interested in the tour..including a couple of pool halls...The Playing Field and Side pocket are ones that come to mine..There is a new room called Murphey Law II that have 8 or 10 brand new Brunswick Gold Crown they are recovering and double shiming them now...really nice place...just some ideas...

The Playing Field is the site for the Viriginia State 9-Ball Championship, and in the past, they have definitely been the host site for regional tours.

Richmond is a hop, skip, and a jump from my ranch. I'd love to see Shannon's tour make it up my way, and there are quite a few pool players in the region who would be very happy if he did bring the tour up north a bit!

Yes i know. Very rarely does people mention shannon daulton as one of the premier all around players.

Shannon is one of the best players out there. He would be hard to beat playing sets of 9-ball, banks, 1pocket.

Shannon may not see this thread because he is on vacation for a few days. I will try to get in touch with him tomorrow and see if he wants to add his 2 cents to this conversation.

The reason people don't menton Shannon as much anymore is because Shannon isn't in action much anymore, gambling or otherwise. He is running his own tour and plays in those events but he doesn't play in a great deal of other tournaments. He is still lethal playing any game and in an all-around format he is still considered on of the top contenders. If he were to commit himself to playing everyday he would be very hard to handle. The truth is that he may go weeks at a time between pulling his cue out of the case. In the warmer months you are way more likely to find him at the golf course than to find him in a pool room. He is enjoying his time with his girlfriend and extended family and he doesn't want to burn the roads anymore. He has nothing to prove to anyone. He has won some very prestigous events and titles and his peers know he is not to be counted out of any competition. When he gets his head and heart right he is still in the upper echelon of pool players in the world. I'm not sure if he still has the offer open to anyone to play a set of all three games but it wouldn't shock me if he did.

I'd have to put the Kentucy Colonel "also" in this all-around area.

Lets not forget that the Cannon won his FIRST Legends of One Pocket event against Steve Mizerak in the finals. Steve declined putting any cash on that set, although Cannon made sure to ask. Oh...and Cannon was 19 years old. Did you hear that? 19!

Cannon won his second Legends event against Efren Reyes in the finals a few years later in a hard fought and arduous match.

Close but no cigar. Shannon beat Efren in the final on the loser side and then beat Buddy Hall in the final. His 4-3 win against Efren after being down 3-1 and on the brink of elimination is an incredible match.

If I recall correctly, that case was delivered to Shannon during the 2006 DCC.

I just so happened to be walking past Jack's booth with SD grinning ear to ear holding up his new case for photos...

hopefully shannon remembers me and my friend playing him and tony stewart all night alternating shot 8ball at the derby. We were a little intoxicated and some guys came in and wanted to fight for 500. I remember tony saying you wanna fight for 500 are you an idiot i am too pretty to fight. It was hilarious

I have a tape of the match between Shannon & Steve Mizerak playing in the finals of the First Legends of One Pocket in Columbia, SC and if you love one pocket it's one of the best matches you will ever see. Steve played almost perfect and got an early lead and Shannon came back and took the match away from Steve in one of the most exciting finishes to win the Championship.

great guy,and a great player.i think the world of him and marge.last year he took me into his home and treated me like family.i feel bad because i was so sick that week that marge drove an hour out of her way to get me a zpack of antibiotics.problem was i gave whatever i had to shannon before i left,sorry again cannon.ktown is right he never plays and can still play great.if our country adored pool and the pool industry and government showered our top players with money,fame,and overall support like asia and europe it would be scary to see shannon compete because hes flat out super talented.its sickining to me to see a guy like him fade away and never play because the money is such a joke in the u.s. .he is so fun to watch play,hes funny,got charisma,polite if he loses,and generally one of the best liked and most feared players on tour.anyway if you read this shannon and marge take care and god bless you .john schmidt

yes,its a sad day when a top professional in any sport cant make a descent living.all the hours you guys put in,your whole life to get to point where you are and theres no money(unless you won every tourny).

I go to tournaments here and there, the DCC the past few years, etc. I always enjoy the chance to meet the players, collect autographs, and chat for a few minutes. At the DCC a few years ago, I was having a 9-ball rack signed by each of the players in the Friday night ring game. As each guy got bumped out, I was catching them as they left the playing area to sign. When I approached Shannon after he had gotten bumped out, he was talking to a few people standing around him. He was a bit "miffed" that he had suffered the bad luck of dropping to the last position when they shuffled the order at one point in the game and he never was able to get anything going. Anyway, he seemed kind of bummed as he was explaining his demise in the ring game, then out of left-field he pops up with something like "but hey, Tony Stewart is here watching us, that's pretty cool that he'd hang out and see what we're all about." Shannon seemed to be as excited about Tony being there as the rest of us fans were to see him and the other pro players. Based on Shannon's reaction at the time, I'm guessing it was the first time they had met. Needless to say, their friendship has been well documented since that time.

Guys like Shannon are good for pool. He's approachable, friendly, always willing to chat, and seems like a genuinely nice guy. Hopefully, he'll have great success with his tournaments which would be a great reflection of his character and love for the game.
