All board's wax and wane. All evolve and grow. All have people come and go. ALL have been going to hell in a handcart since Adam were a lad. Nothing's EVER as good as it was.

Troll spotting is an unhealthy obsession with many, as is witch-hunting. It validates the individual, ingratiating them to the group.

More people than you'd imagine have precisely zero sense of humour.

Sometimes not responding is the thing to do, Neil.
It's called the doctrine of non-intervention....
..stirring things up doesn't always clear them up....
.."Do not stir troubled waters"..they clear up if you leave it alone

..and sometimes you just have to do what YOU want to do.
..time for another 'What would you do here' thread....
..and I promise to vehemently disagree with you.

And I think the 'troll' card gets played a little too much....
...it may be someone who legitimately doesn't understand or
has a different experience.

I agree with PT. Where the hell did all of the emotional crybabies come from? You know how many of you have sat there and @#$& on somebody because they disagreed with you? Just because somebody has experience and knowledge doesn't mean they are always right, nor does that mean some(people like me, for instance) are going to go around kissing their butts at every turn.

To top it off, some of the princes of popularity around here sling enough feces on their own, they just put a little sugar on it and call it candy..

A Troll is an insatiable critic of anyone that has a different opinion.
By your definition I agree, Troll hunters are trolls.

If Ghosst would have noticed, my post was not entirely directed towards measureman.
With a definition now outlined we can see its a call for "trolls" to take a look at themselves as well.

Keep me from becoming talkative and possessed with the idea that I must express myself on every subject.
Release me from the craving to straighten out everyone's affairs.
Keep me from the recital of endless detail.
Give me wings to get to the point.
Seal my lips when I am inclined to tell of my aches and pains. They are increasing with the years and my love to speak of them grows sweeter as time goes by.
Teach me the glorious lesson that occasionally I may be wrong.
Make me thoughtful but not nosy; helpful but not bossy. With my vast store of wisdom and experience it does seem a pity not to use it all. But, Thou knowest, Lord, that I want a few friends at the end.

OUTSTANDING!!

( I have not read this whole thread .. I have no idea what arguments may lie within)

I AM saying this quoted post is simply spectacular in its concise conclusions.
Well put TheThaiger.

Tremendous truth put forth and well imo.

Wonder why he hasn't come back here to acknowledge he relapsed. The gravitational pull of this place is too much for most to overcome. The best way to quit is to get banned. It usually takes longer than 2 1/2 days to get a new username approved.

Obviously,Measureman was just joking. :D

OK. I'm back.
The day I made this post I was having some awful personal problems and my morning at work was miserable and I was in a foul mood.
An hour or so after making the post I wished I had not done it.

Don't feel like the lone soldier. I'd venture to guess many of us, to include me, have done it. ;)
