i have not changed my thoughts on the dvd.
but i would like to say that i know joe is a good guy.
so i went off on him because i didnt like his dvd which i dont.
one of the things i said is i wished he could play so i could ask him to gamble.well i know joe plays a pretty high speed.

so i dont like the dvd thats me but your a good guy and a good player i know that and so should everyone else.

sorry joe for going off on you as a person.
 
Chris, which of his dvd's didn't you care for? What might you have done differently to make it better in your eyes?

im old school i think you should have to play a lot to find out stuff like this.
 
lol. well this internet thing must just keep your as$ steamed on a regular basis... it's information, it's everywhere. it's mostly free and available to everyone everywhere.

If Joe didn't share his experience and the knowledge that he gained... someone else would have. I would tend to applaud Joe for realizing the intellectual capitol that he possessed and cashing in on that hard earned knowledge...

Glad to see someone deserving cashed on the wisdom. It's all out there. Might as well embrace it. There is no turning back, There are very few to no secrets left out there... just people who do and don't know how to find them.

I would think it takes to much energy to resent Joe for sharing, why bother?

A little knowledge is a powerful thing. But racking knowledge and "secrets" of the game will never make up for lack of talent. I can surely understand why old school players frown on this type of thing, but like I said, you will always have an edge on talent.

Danny Basavich also had a dvd... showing pretty much the same thing as Joe Tucker, not AS in depth, but racking secrets none the less. Do you feel the same way about what Danny does?
 
Joe T has helped me immensely with stuff. His CD helped me a lot - not just the rack part. Chris - gotta respect you for sticking to your convictions during an apology. Most people don't.

I hope to see Joe again sometime soon - he's worth the drive from PA to RI.

with the days of the true "hustler" gone, i do not see anything wrong with joe's dvd. its really no different than any other instructional dvd about aiming, english, etc. the more info. that is out there, the more it can help the sport grow in my opinion. joe saw the opportunity to make money in a legit business-like manner...and did it.

I totally see your point. I'm sure a bazillion players have lost a cumulative bazillion dollars learning this knowledge the old fashioned way!

When I viewed this dvd I had mixed emotions. On one hand I felt "dirty" learning how an imperfect rack can react and how it can be manipulated. On the other hand, I was pleased to have the knowledge - the "insurance policy" to protect myself against the few unsavory sorts.

<------ happy to have spent $30 on the dvd and not thousands learning the hard way

Nice and appreciated, that's the guy we know.

I understand where you're coming from about the dvd but their info won't out do your skills.

Well, you said it yourself in your last statement.

All of the stuff you can read in a book or see in a DVD doesn't mean squat until you practice it for (sometimes years) and it truly "clicks" as to "why" it exactly works.

I hear what your saying, and agree, but...

Don't you think that the little bit of knowledge (ie a dangerous thing), might actually make some of the lesser players think they are better than they really are, and result in more action. The more people that play better, the more likely there will be action.

...I learned the hard way, way back when.....

I got Tuckers Racking Secrets and learned quite a bit. Now if I ever play you I can get to 3 games (maybe) instead of 2 games in a race to 11!

I finally broke down and ordered it. :-o

I got my ass handed to be banging em around with Donny Mills this weekend for about an hour a half.

It wasnt missing balls that was killing me. I wasn't doing much of that. It was not making balls on the break.

Oh, and Donny doesnt miss much. That didnt help either! :-p
 
Funny story....

I was playing Joe Tucker at a Joss event at Comet Billiards. I snapped the 9 on the break. Mike Davis was watching, walks by and says something like "you should read your book again". Very funny.

To Joe's credit..I believe it was the same tournament, he was down 8-4 in a race to nine against Frankie Hernandez. Joe runs a 5 pack to win.
