Is CW the right choice for captain of the USA Mosconi Cup?

I think you may have misunderstood what Justadub said. He was referring to "CJ" as in C.J. Wiley. I think you may have thought he was referring to "CW" as in Charlie Williams. :embarrassed2:

Just look how popular he is here, lol. He is no more popular with his players he has signed,conned under dragon, ive heard it from 2 of them directly

Besides, as a player what in the hell has he ever accomplished

You need someone who can get the players and the spectators emotionally involved. Someone who will motivate everyone toward a common goal.

I want them to have more options than Charlie willams and nick Varner.

My suggestion is TONY ROBLES.

Sure he is a nice guy - is he too nice? I don't think so. I think he brings a good work ethic, a great moral compass, the faith of the team members - and he's not carrying all the baggage that CW would bring.

And remember, all the controversy that would come with CW being captain, would have a negative affect on the whole team. The USA deserves the fair opportunity to win. Hopefully Matchroom will grant this chance.

I agree! Tony has the interest and attitude that you want. But what is the need of a "captain"? I think Johnny Archer as Player/Coach is all you need.

I thought last year someone mentioned that CW would stay more than 2 years as captain.

Regardless the captain choice, I seriously hope JA makes it as a player. He has been the most solid all around US player the last 4 years of the cup without being the MVP. His experience is worth just as a good captain. SVB and Dechaine have great flair but the team needs playing experience as well. It would also be great to watch Earl play again... but I don't think that's gonna happen.

Johnny Archer is a nice person, but if he wants to continue to enjoy popularity, he should consider the advantages of distancing himself from CW, et al., and Dragon. His good name will be tainted with the residue that is left after the ABP implodes.

Just like when the UPA imploded, those responsible for the damage the UPA caused jumped the UPA ship like little sissies, leaving others to take the blame and bear the burden.

The ABP will be no different. I wish JA the best. :)

mark griffin nailed it. tony robles would be perfect. he's intelligent, positive, and competitive. as for earl, he has the competitive part down...
 
The poll asks to please state why CW is wrong for the Mosconi Cup. I believe the results of the poll show why he is wrong. No one likes him, he is arrogant, he is self-serving, and he is not a positive influence to the team.

I agree 100% that Tony Robles would make a great choice.

I can't speak for Tony, but I can mention (this is more than hearsay) that Robles would be enthusiastic and thrilled to take on the role of captain. In addition, Tony has the experience, as a former Mosconi participant.

If there were a way to petition Matchroom Sports, I would be a part of it.

With or without Charlie Williams the USA has ZERO chance to beat Europe. I say cancel the whole show and just let SVB play their best few some sets exhibition style.

Cup means nothing now. Why fight over the captain? It's not like football or something where the guy gets to be like a coach and call plays and shit. All the captain does is collect a check and put a roster together and decide how to play SVB as often as possible.

F it, vote me in as the captain I promise I won't do any worse than last year or the year before.

Fact is even Hatch went and got a day job. What 5 can possibly beat the EURO team right now? It's a joke but I'll be around to steal your guys money when you feel like betting on Team USA.
