Tony Annigoni suicide

It's ironic. The BCA miscued for about 800k when they guaranteed the hotel room fill at their BCA E. Coast venue during the DuCoff yrs.
It set matters in motion to diminish the BCA down to what it is now.
One of my best times in office for me, was gettin' product from all the supporting mfg. (about 15k in merchandise) and then Giving it free to the kids at their Jr. Nationals event. Boy their EYES lit up when I handed em a new two piece cue. During the Shane McMinn yrs.
East Coast Venue? Are you referring to the 2000 BCA 14.1 U.S. Open? That might have been their last one, right?

I have reached out to David, and apparently Tony was wrong in what he had said about another chapter. Either that, or I remembered it wrong.

Either way, David said he is writing up a tribute for Tony and I hope to be able to share it here online soon.

Mike
Beyond amazing...both your arrangement of it and mccumber's response.

Looking forward to it, thanks for sharing.

I think where the confusion comes from, Tony wanted to do another book with Mcumber . Tony called me and told me he was interested in doing another book . This time he wanted too travel Europe playing snooker for cash ..

Yes....and it was on the E. coast.
No one showed up. Huge miscue'.
John Lewis should of been the executive director when they moved from IA to Colorado Springs, he's in it for the game/sport/players.
He's extremely intelligent when it comes to the billiard world, and everyone at that time knew em.
He really disliked when a particular board member got voted in, and steered the ship for their benefit.

I’ve known Tony for decades along with David. Tony was a great friend and a kick to be around. I had a pool room built at the house and Tony put his Gold Crown in. He had the pockets narrowed as he said it improved practice aiming and such. Basically what it did was frustrate the hell out of me which he found rather humorous...! We went to NY together on a fact finding mission for seeing upscale cigar locker establishments for a new venture we did in Monterey. I helped financially and he did all the leg work. I have many stories as many of you. The news of his passing has hit both my wife and I hard as there hasn’t been a day since that we don’t talk/think about him. Anyone posting anything negative on this thread really needs to take a step back and keep it to themselves as it’s inappropriate and uncalled for. Tony is greatly missed and will be forever in our hearts, he was a good person and tried to do the best he could for others and the sport itself. RIP my friend, RIP

Ok - well I am actually also totally anti censorship or locking down threads - and agreed, it's lovely to see/hear respectful/uplifting stories from folks that were close to him. But there are some very moronic comments in here that are obviously disturbing & super insensitive to the family, etc. Every once in a while it might be OK for the moderators to.... moderate.

It's completely beyond me why anyone feels the need to analyze/discuss/lecture the world about the logistics or psychology of a famous pool player's untimely suicide, or drag up dirt from his past in an online forum - especially when it's obvious that there are family & close friends involved in the discussion. But maybe those that do - could start another thread, and the moderators could move those posts, and this one can maintain a respectful, sensitive "In memory of..." tone for those who loved and were close to him.

I think most of us get the fact that mental illness and suicide are very disturbing, challenging topics of our broader society, and we're obviously in extra challenging times all around. Surely enough said...

Peace & love,

P
Thanks for you thoughts on this.

Condolences to all friends and family of Tony's.

Wonderful!

I have recently ordered a copy of playing off the rail. I intend to print this out and put a copy inside my book.

Mike, so many people on AZB have been affected by Tony's life and his death. It seems that it might be worthy of consideration to move this thread to the Hall of Fame in a month or two, with or without a little clean-up.

Just a thought,
Hu

Greetings- I have two relatively recent pictures ( actually very short videos that are less than 6 seconds) of Tony that I want to post but can't figure out how to do this. I'm old and technologically challenged. One photo/video shows Tony drilling a long shot into a corner pocket. The other ( 6 seconds) shows Tony hamming it up complete with pencil in his right ear. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance. B

I also have a few other earlier pics if you all think that I should post them. A special thanks to Phreaticus for the help posting these pics. Frankly I am still having trouble processing this loss in my life and these photos touch my heart . He's constantly on my mind and I wish I had been able to help him in some way that could have made a difference.
