too tall...

Im 6'3-6'4" with a 78" wingspan........... I can shoot with a 58" cue fine but its not very comfortable...........My Varney is 60" so I should be jsut a tad more comfortable with it... 62" prolly owuld have been better but I think the 60 will do jsut fine.....

My name is Jay and I'm 5'7" tall. I dream of being taller. I take growth pills, I use a stretching machine, I even wear elevator shoes that go all the way to the top floor. But I'm still only 5'7". Maybe I need the surgery where they insert something into your leg bones.

I use a 57" or 58" cue and I want to use a 60" cue and walk around and look over the top of everyone's head. I would like to be able to see over crowds without jumping up and down repeatedly. I want to be able to reach things in the top cabinet without a step stool. I want to date tall women and look them in the eye and not the breast. But most of all I want to be able to stretch out across the table and never have to use the bridge. That would make me very happy. :)

Can you help me? Or am I just terminally short?

I'm 6ft 7'' and for two years I've been trying to find the right cue for me . I have had 5 cues till now : 63'' Schmelke ( 30/33 ), 60'' Viking ( 29/31 ) , Mcdermott 58'', Dominiak 60 (30/30 ) , Predator 5k2 59'' ( 29/30 ) .
Now I'm waiting for a custom 60'' Pechauer ( 30/30 ) , if this will not work I'm going to order a 64'' Viking ( 32/32 ) .

I had one these 64" made by Viking. I'm 6' 5", never was comfortable with it, so it got played very little. The balance was excellent, just didn't work for me. I'm back to 58 1/2" cues, grip forward at the front of the wrap, works fine for me. Good luck to you finding a norm.... if there is such a thing........ The Viking was a 74 model, was a great cue, now that I think about it, with a custom case.

the "rule of thumb" as it was told to me..

is when standing feet together flat footed..

place the cue perfectly vertical... the butt alongside your foot and the tip should be in the center of your shoulder.. thats the cue length for you..

thats what I was told...and it works for me

Ah, come on now, I saw you standing next to Jose Parica one time. You didn't look short to me. :)

In the PI everyone looks up to me! Wrong ;)
Everyone that is except Ronnie Alcano.

I'm tiny in this, I guess, I'm 6'1 but I also grip a 58in cue at the very back. I had Jim White make me a 59in cue, half inch on the butt and half on the shaft, and I still grip it in the back but at least I'm partially on the wrap now. The balance on this cue is perfect too. I've shot with other 59in cues that feel like I'm shooting with a javelin. This one doesn't feel odd at all. Everyone that has shot with this one hasn't noticed that it's longer.

Damn there are a lot of tall guys on AZ. At 5' 6" I got turned down for being too short to be a cop in NY. That was before they changed it to less. By that time they didn't want me for a lot of other reasons. So the police dept. is responsible for my life of crime. If they would have taken me when I wanted to join I would have been a better person...or NOT. Johnnyt

Speaking of Parica

paricawu7.jpg

Kind of funny story to this photo. Anyone that knows Parica knows how he walks around with a look of just plain nothing on his face. No smile, no frown, just.....nothing. Anyway, when I was at the Lexington All-Stars I was doing the usual thing of getting photos with everyone I could when Parica came walking by with that lifeless look on his face. I walked over to him and I said "Hey, you mind if I get a quick photo with you" and he said "sure", still all mellow and lifeless. We stand next to each other, my wife snaps the photo, and I turn to thank him, say thanks and that's that. When I thanked him his face wasn't any different than when I walked up to him. After he walked away I said to my wife "That's gonna be one gloomy ass photo there." Then when I get back to Japan I had the film developed and there he is with that big smile on his face. He must have an on/off switch with a hair trigger on it because I was right next to him and didn't even see the corners of his mouth go up. hehe!!

No, not a G74, made in 1974. I sold it but will see if it is available and try to get some pics.

I know how you feel!!! I hate those shots in the middle of the table where you're bridging over a ball and need the mechanical bridge!

Very Interesting 61" cue custom built for 6-2 player

Before you guys think I am soliciting a sale, I am not. I was skimming over cues on ebay and saw this and thought you bean stalks might find it or the cue model an interesting one. I have never heard of a G-10 joint and screw. Plenty of G_10 screws out there.... but a joint??? I would love check out the hit of this puppy. But 61" is Streeeeeeeeeetching it for me. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

My pleasure.
