My only question is who is next for OMG? She's the "action challenge" winner, so who are the candidates for the next match?

Well, I do not know her and have never been on her website, but I will try her in an 8 ahead set even. From what I saw, I know I cant spot her anything and will not let ego stand in the way of me saying I cant.

Round of applause for both players stepping up to the plate and posting up their own dough to play this challenge match.

Aside from the woofing, if the two players didn't back up their bark, we wouldn't even be having this colloquy on this thread! :p

Thanks to TAR for staying with this challenge match and providing it for free to us back home.

Bravo to OMG for the victory, and thanks, cubc, for following through and giving it your all. Better luck next time! :)

Regarding the video of CUBC running racks. If you look closely on the video you can see that the racks aren't run in a row, as some here seems to believe.

After he breaks in one rack he places his breakcue at the right side of the table, but when he is breaking in the next rack he picks up his breakcue from the left side of the table. Obviously he has played some racks between those B&R's.

What a shame cubc is getting barbecued on this forum now, after he lost his dough. I think it stinks. :(

You know it Jenny. Most of these people have never bet $500, much less $3000. IT WILL ALTER YOUR PLAY. Throw in the internet, and wow. Pressure? Oh well, for those who have bet over a grand, we all know the effects. Good effort on both parts. Hey, there is time for a rematch. Cubc, don't let it get you down. It's just business. OMGWTF, good show. If you bet $500 or$1000 once or twice a week, it's different. Once a year? Once in three years? Once in your life?

All in all, nuts to you for having the balls to back up whatever woofing happened. It's just money, we make it every day. You'll pump up again and maybe we'll see a rematch.

By the way, I need the six, last two and the break from both of you.

Just jiving. I might play even. Joking, only joking.

Crawfish,
I find that I play much better the higher the money gets. I cant play if I'm playing for fun or a couple of bucks but I focus more if I'm playing for more money. Its the same way in golf. $2-5/hole is just like playing for fun, but if you make it $20/hole or more then I bare down and grind. It would probably be different if I were playing for my house or 5 figures or something, but I've played my best when the money was big so far.

Yeah JAM, some of us might have been a little tough on Cubc in this thread, but regardless of how this all got started, I figure if he's tough enough to put up his dough and follow through with this, he's gotta be tough enough to handle a little ribbing. :D

Let's face it: the average person here is going to dog his/her guts out playing for that much cash realizing they're playing in front of that many people (most of which don't want you to win if you're cubc :D ). It is a rare breed that can fade that kind of pressure. I have a lot of respect for both of these players to come out and do this.

I'm the same way. I'll beat'em into the rail for $5. For $30 a game, well it brings out the best in me. For $500? Love it. Most people on here, I'd be willing to bet haven't played a five hundred dollar set in their life. Not all. But, you'll hear all kinds of criticism and "OOOOh, he should have done it this way." I know we have some seasoned players here and there, but I'd have to say that at least 80% or even more have never posted that kind of cash. By the way, did you guys know that Coltrain's old Justis case is on ebay? Wow, that makes me sick.

LOL, wished I was the same..... my "comfort" zone is for under a grand.... $3K, online streaming, etc - I'd have folded as well....

... but I'll play cubc heads up if he wants... :)

You are probably right, DaPoet! :)

It is just that, having been on the receiving end of forum ribbing, ridiculing, bullying, bashing, trolling, et cetera, I empathize with cubc and know that it doesn't feel good! I want cubc to know that some of the AzBilliards members do not share some of the mean-spirited opinions expressed in this thread.

I remember the first time I played for $100 a game. It was against a local high-roller in my area nicknamed Hodje. We both played about the same speed, and it was a fair game. He played like a champ, and I folded like a lawn chair. I ended up owing him about 400 bucks when the dust settled. I never forgot how I felt. :(

The next week, I won it all back playing poker, which felt like a million bucks. One thing I learned from the experience, though, was to never gamble above my comfort zone.

I think some gamblers think gambling for big bucks somehow gives them an appearance of greatness. The Emperor's New Clothes comes to mind. It don't mean squat if you're not a good person.

If the match gets loaded onto TAR.com, can someone throw a heads up on here. I'd really like to see that match, even though I know who the winner is. Congrats OMG

Roscoe,
I've never played on a livestream before so I have no idea how I'd perform. I'd like to think it wouldn't be any more pressure, but I don't know. I don't play very good pool in the first place so maybe that's why my game doesn't go down when the money gets higher.

I feel like I do too corvette, but as with most people its all about comfort zone. While I have played better for higher stakes like 100-200 a game...3k is not my betting history and would likely make me dog it. Like crawfish said, add in the internet and all the hype and its not anything NORMAL thats for sure to be doing what they did. Cubc should expect payback for all the woofing but he also deserves credit for stepping up and betting HIS DOUGH to the tune of $3,000.00 and travel expenses to LV. Both players hump it daily at the 9-5 like most of us do, so $3,0000.00 is alot of dough. They got my respect for their gamble, thats for sure.
