i hear ya, but still... I'd like to see a USA win someday, in the near future.

There does seem to be a large sector of our American pool-playing community that is being omitted by the new selection criteria.
Every year, Matchroom does change the selection criteria for Team USA if it sees a problem.
In times gone by, we had a corrupt UPA with a ranking system based on favoritism. The BCA's ranking system went to ashes. With no professional tour or ranking system, it is difficult to come with a good way to pick the best of the best in American pool.
I still believe that it is early and changes can still be made, if needed. Mark Wilson will be the selecting official for Team USA in 2014. Maybe he will be open to suggestions.
I agree with Mark Wilsons picks and i am sure there are others that could easily be on that list, Joey grey, Skylar Woodard, Shane Winters. Obviously not everybody can be on the team. Maybe there should have been a qualifying round robin type invitational tournament to see who gets picked. He is picking players that have good attitudes as much as playing ability,is what i understand,and i am sure playing with Corey and John and Shane their games will get a lot better,if they have any heart for the game at all. I am getting excited about watching now,we are going to have son young guns that are going to be loaded for bear man,team Europe better lookout this year,is all i am saying. Go team USA

Great players but lack heart. Deuel's head ain't in it, dreaming about a 30 foot putt during matches! Schmidt only won a US Open title cause he was staked! Oscar just needs Keith Bennett to walk in the room and he will fold like a lawn chair! These three are close but their heads sometimes lead them astray.
Chris Bartram would man handle the bottom three players I listed. Talk about getting pimp slapped! But, Shuff and Sossei would be epic battles for Chris Bartram. Shuff got a taste of Europe and Mosconi Cup, he vowed to be back! Sossei is one tough cookie too!
My thoughts on the selections! for what it's worth!

Seems like you understand but you and others really don't. Mark didn't pick solely based on skill. He picked on what would be the best TEAM -- in his mind.
If you picked the players of the USA based on skill the team would be
SVB
Archer
Earl
Rodney
Dechaine
and then throw in one more of the 7 others that Mark chose along with Bartram, Frost, Hennessey, Bennett, Moore and I am sure a few others to battle it out.
But again - Mark picked 8 players he feels will play the best when it gets down to 5 of them as a team.

He has to spot them cause according to the public opinion of KD, he would man handle and pimp slap them. To me that means he is two balls better but I am sure they would get up to the table with a ball difference.
